The public announcement system inside the waiting room sprang to life.
"Forge, Alex, report to interrogation room 3."
Inside the room sat Commissar-Captain Koniev, one of the surviving relics of the old guard. He was an aging man, approaching his late fifties, but his gray hair betrayed the reality of the man. He was as fierce as ever, and even more determined to prove that the Commissariat is still a relevant force.
He sat behind a large wooden desk, his lower body hidden behind a dark shade of mahogany, with his arms laying on the table, propping up his upper body. He started at the door to the office, waiting for the applicant to enter.

Faddei walked back into the office, taking his seat on the opposite side of the door from Koslova, both their eyes trained on Doriano. The Major himself looked up at both the potential recruits before him, flashing a smile that would've portrayed the utmost sincerity. In truth he was already bored and hoping one of them would give him a reason to spice things up soon.
"Ladies. Names please, and while we're at it, quickly tell me how you got here."
Doriano spoke crisply, yet quietly, as if he was shy, but this definitely wasn't the case.

Once the door opened, and until Forge sat down, Koniev locked his gaze on the man. His expression did not change, his posture, his demeanor. He just sat and started at the man directly in his eyes. After a few moments, just as the applicant was about to say something, he finally spoke in a calm, even tone.
"Why are you here?"

The false smile remained on Doriano's lips, listening to each of their answers; he looked towards Lachina and nodded briefly to show his satisfaction. His eyes immediately darted to the woman next to her, observing her as if dinner had been served.
"I can tell you anything, but that doesn't mean you accept or believe in what I say."
He spoke in the same quiet, and clear tone as before, pausing for a moment, his smile widening as his teeth became visible.
"So tell me, Miss Drsnovova, why do you believe this is the place to be? Assuming that is what you believe anyway."

Olga thought that Doriano's smile means that he likes her, so she started feeling better and answered him also with a smile.
" You know, I'm young....I even graduated, but still no work, no place to be...."
She smiled nicely again, touched her blonde hair, bit it a little....
" Then I met yurij a josef in a bar outside my city....they were actually really nice to me, told me that I should come with them and they would show me big things...."

Koniev's blank, disinterested expression remained on his face, his eyes firmly locked on the other man's. Again he started at the applicant, letting an awkward silence settle in the room before asking the next question.
"The cause? Tell me, what do you know of our cause?"
Just as Alex was about to reply he spoke again, deliberately cutting him off.
"Hold on for a moment."
He opened a drawer, and pulled a pack of cigarettes, as well as a pistol, which he set on the table in front of him. He took out a cigarette and lit it, taking in a deep drag, before returning his gaze to Alex.
"You may speak now."
