Coalition Recruitment Thread - Chucc - 04-24-2011

A man walks into the CPW-Trotsky's recruitment office, guards at his side. His escort was in lieu of his being in a long since unused Comissioned officers uniform, sporting Coalition insignia on the shoulder, showing his rank as Leiutenant. His Squadron patch hasn't been in active duty since the restructuring, and identifies the man as a possible threat. His uncommon fighting vessel, while an adept, and stout snubnose, its foreign technology shows that he hasn't been in the fold for some time. It is only fitting that he be guarded, as well as disarmed, for his own safety.

Looking around the Recruitment office and hearing the familiar ring of gunshots, he smiles to himself, and steps to the desk.

"Lieutenant, sorry, former Lieutenant Y'Bastahd, reporting for either interviewing, or de-briefing, whichever it may be." He says clearly, handing the customary paper to the clerk, Name and basic details as expected. He then turns a sharp right and takes an empty seat, to await his turn.

He leans his head back closing his eyes, thinking to himself, 'It's good to be home.'

Lukas thought carefully, then began to answer.
"By starting with the people, Commissar. The oppressive nature of our new government does not hold the hearts of the Rheinland people. The military know their unpopularity is a problem; they use the war with Liberty as an excuse to remain in power! Only today, all of Sirius saw them announce their aggressive expansion into Omega-7, another measure to spread their cancer."
"The people are Rheinland. If they can be motivated, no injustice can stand in their way." He spoke with passion. "The common man will fight for what he knows is right. They just need to be shown exactly what is right."
Lukas stopped speaking, breathless. He had spoken true to himself, and he hoped that the cold man who examined him could see this.

Koniev couldn't help the grin that escaped his blank expression as the applicant replied exactly as he predicted.

"So why not join the Hessians? What is it about us that draws you especially?"

Lukas paused, uncertain. He hadn't anticipated this, but he thought carefully, and then replied with conviction.
"Because, Commissar, while the goal of the Red Hessians' leaders is without question, I have met many of them. Many of the rank and file are little better than thugs, with nothing but themselves in mind. They fly under the banner of the Hessians only to seek shelter and leech aid for their criminal activities from the organisation's stores."
Lukas drew himself up to his full height.
"Here, in the Coalition, there are no such problems, Commissar. I know for certain that every man, woman and child involved in the Revolution is fully committed to their goal. That is why I have come here today."

The commissar cocked his eyebrow. He took his feet of the table, sat up, and looked into Lukas's eyes.

"Considering that I have flow along side many of the Hessian rank and file, I find your opinion to be not only wrong but extremely prejudicial towards our long standing allies. Perhaps you have spent too long a time in the Rheinland Military."

He clicked his tongue.

"But we will see about that. Now then. What do you know of our cause? Also, I want you to explain it from two different schools of communist philosophy."

Hitting a button on the arm of his uniform, Rand opens his personal computer and looks over the latest schematics of the Light Bending Generator. Glancing around the waiting room he sees the two open doors and hears the interviews.
He turns his attention back to the screen and begins running yet another diagnostic on the systems boot sequence. He managed to make the first prototype he built years ago work, but then he had access to an entire facility in which to do his work, not the Portable Lab he had fashioned to make it possible to do his studies in peace and without prying eyes.
As he thought back over the years, his mind wandered to his old comrades that flew with him here in Omega 52, in his old squadron.
Were any of them left?
With a mental shrug, he turned his attention back tothe diagnostic, just as the screen lit up with an error message in the final relay of the plasma from the ejectors to the culcination Array that would allow his unit to work properly.
With his attention focused on the screen, he was still aware of everything giong on around him, after all he could do these tests anywhere, there was only now for the interview for getting his wings back. He hit the keypad to load the error log and started to look it over as he continued to wait.

"Well, sir, we stand for freedom in Sirius. We stand against the aristocracy, the dictators, the "Establishment", those who make decisions to better themselves at the detriment of the common man, woman, and child which make up their people."
"Our goal is to liberate the greater populace. Marxists believe that liberation comes via not the prohibition of things, but by creating a society where unjust, immoral or unethical behaviour is simply not necessary. Human freedom is the core tenet of creating this society, a society where one man can do many things interchangably and keep society moving smoothly as a whole."
"In contrast, another ideological subset, namely anarcho-communism, would seek to free the people by abolishing almost all aspects of Sirian society today. Capitalism and all forms of private ownership yield to a shared running and maintenance of all means of production, with the output to be shared equally among all. In this way, society will be made perfect; each person will be equal, and each person does an equal amount of contribution in exchange for receiving an equal amount to everyone else."
Lukas paused, trying to remember more of his education. He'd said most of it already, but the commissar's face was unreadable as he was scrutinised yet again. He dropped his gaze to the floor again.

Another junction, yet the same road.

Jacob Hunter. A cynical, sadistic and grizzled man, who after toiling through years of hardships and struggles, finally felt like he was in a place where he could refine the many skills he had been forced to learn survive the insanity that was his life. Whatever morals he once possessed, faded with decadence.

He strode confidently over to the desk. Name; "Jacob Hunter", previous occupation; "mercenary, bouncer, thug..." The list continued on as he described the monotonous assortment of jobs he once performed. All of them revolving around hurting, killing or coercing other people into agreeing with his employer's viewpoint. The rest of the basic details were simple enough to fill out.

He moved into the seat, awaiting his name to be called. He couldn't help but notice the blood stains on the floor, and the spontaneous sound of a gunshot followed by a call of "next".

The Coalition had suffered a great deal, men were tightly sweating in the close confines of the CPW-Trotsky, the commanders leaning over the situation table in the CIC, charting enemy ship movements, aware that they were being watched by General Alvarez.

His peaked cap tilted back, and his heavy leather jacket's collar turned up, he watched them move about the bridge, diligently performing their duties.

"Comrade-General," A commissar cleared his throat, looking at the two-time awarded Hero of the Revolution, El Coyote, the War Master.

"Si, hermano," Alvarez stated, his eyes flicking from the holographic display.

"The recruit you were expecting, he is below." The Commissar gestured.

Alvarez nodded, "Have Forge brought to the CIC, and ensure that he isn't armed." Alvarez puffed on a cigar as he settled into his command chair, again concentrating on the enemy.

"Da, Comrade," the Commissar retreated, returning a few minutes later with the applicant, gesturing to a place near to a console from which to stand.

Behind Alvarez, through the glass panels, the recruiting office could be seen, the orange shirted maintenance techs removing another failed applicant from the offices there. Sound proofing keeping the noise from the bridge.

Alvarez stubbed out his cigar, the short man, looking up from his tactical displays.

"Comrada Forge, si? Tell me what can I do for you?"

Jacob had left his weapons in his battered ship, so the guard lead him to the CIC. Standing where he was told, Jacob tooka breath.

"Comrade Forge, si? Tell me what I can do for you?" The man asked.
Jacob cleared his throat. "I would like to join the Coalition and help forward its ideals, and make Sirius a better place."
