That the explosives used in Descent™ Saga include a combination of Tungsten and a vacuum to create an isolated explosion upon impact of ANY surface.... with catastrophic damage.
It is completely non-nuclear.

Some still are, such as Xeno or Civilian ones, if effects are lowered for better optimalization during bigger combat.

The minefield is still there, you know. Not as thick thanks to the Gallic Fleet breaking through it, though.
