I can't use search for short combinations - faction tags, short names etc.
I remember that it was possible long ago.

You also need to search the EXACT name. God forbid you want to search anything beginning with three letters or such.

It's quite important.
I could search for, let's say, "XTF", and find out if there is some communication or discussion thread mentioning us.
Now I can't.

It's been like that for as long as I can remember. Or, well, at least I can't recall IPB letting me search for anything shorter than four letters either. Try using Google with site:discoverygc.com as a search term or this if you're too lazy for that. I certainly am; I mostly made that to get around MyBBs rather clunky search engine and its three-letter restriction.

MyBB Search System is designed in this way. The built in search mechanism for threads and posts offer two search types: "standard" & "full text" but "fulltext" searching is more powerful than the standard MyBB searching and quicker too. There (in AdminCP) is also an option for "Minimum Search Word Length". The recomandations is "4" for MySQL fulltext searching. And believe me... a "standard" search type will return irrelevant results. From this reason is necessary to be used at least 4 characters for proper results.
