Don't forget that in the extended intro, Atticus Rockford is actually the narrator as well, so seemingly he's lived for over 800 years - an unlikely proposition for any human at best.
Also of note is that it's safe to assume that scientists in Sirius would at least have some basic knowledge of astronomy. Sirius is only 8 light years from Sol, so simple astronomical observations would show that Sol is no more, yet at no point in the game (Vanilla or Discovery) does any NPC make note of this.

This implies Sirius == Sirius Sector. I think they're two totally separate identities
