Can a Fearless use a hyperspace survey module? - Ponge - 04-26-2014
Greetings.
An MK2 survey module needs 100k/s power generation to operate. The Fearless core can produce 95k/s, but it has 1.4 mill in reserve when fully charged. So, I start scan, then it eats power by 5k/sec, draining the power reserve; scan takes 100 sec, so it uses up 500k (a little bit more than third) of the reserve.
Is this how it works, or scan won't even start if the core's generation capability is not enough? Just as a remark, I saw once a Liberty Siege Cruiser equipped with Survey module (did not see it using it).

The fearless will be able to use the Mk2 Hyperspace scanner provided it has enough space to mount the Scanner (600 Cargo space required) then at least 40 Cargo space to hold fuel (Just to make sure you don't run out when tractoring) and a transport or another ship that can hold the rest of the fuel.
As far as i'm aware as well, you only need to meet the minimum requirement for the power core. It does not drain your power core at all. It's just to prevent transports from using the Hyperspace Scanner or Jump Drives.

Well, Fearless is no good then, as it has a 95k power recharge, while the MK2 survey needs 100k.

You can do it because i've done it in a LSC and there has been no problem. They both have the same core charge.

So just the power reserve has to be at least 100k, not the core regen rate?

I believe so because transports have less than 95k Core and they can't use them.

Ok, if it works with LSC, then it must work with Fearless.

It is your starting Power Core that is important, not your recharge rate.
So anything with a Power Core more than 100k can use the Survey Modules.
