Faction ID / sub- Faction or Sub - ID ? - FynnMcScrap - 07-20-2014

I would like some clarification to the Faction rules here :

Quote:When a faction is created, the leader must select an ID and a corresponding IFF for use on every ship within the faction, based on the group's primary role and identity. Factions must also choose one unified tag for their ships upon requesting official status.

Each faction or group can only use one ID. Official factions may request their own ID based on the original ID of their NPC faction, to allow for a more specialized line of roleplay or to remove certain restrictions applied to their original ID, which would require admin approval before implementation. The faction ID can only be requested if the official faction's roleplay as a whole, or the roleplay of a sub-group of the faction can no longer be played out within the allowances of their original ID.

In case of the Player Faction IDs granted to the faction as a whole, the approved ID will become the faction's primary ID and every ship belonging to the faction should be switched to the new ID, and in case of the Player Faction IDs approved to a sub-group within a faction, the ID must only be used within the approved sub-group. In both cases, the official faction will maintain their faction rights over the NPC faction of their IFF.

It is possible for any faction or any group to choose any ID that they like. Including even IDs that already have official faction(s) representing them, however, not all IDs or NPC affiliation will grant full faction rights.

T&T/ ( Tinker&Transport) is a Trading Cooperation, and as such is based on Freelancer ID. Of course, perhaps one day it might get an own ID, or be incorporated by DSE , or turned to a subfaction of .:j:. , who knows.
But at the moment it is an inofficial Faction with own TAG ( T&T/ ) and uses a Freelancer ID / FreelancerLi IFF rep sheet.

However, T&T/ also employes Junkers on a regular basis to work the scrap fields.
Normaly I had thought to offer the affiliated Junkers to TAG their Ships with us and to play their Chara as a T&T/ employee. However, if I gather it correctly, that would be a ID break, as Faction ID is Freelancer ?

Or would theis be possible without bending the rules ?

The only other way out of this I see at the moment is either subcontracting every single Junker on a solo basis ( possible, but not what T&T/ is all about ) or to create a new subfaction like T&T(J)/ or something like that.

Or would it be better to roleplay and ask for a special roleplay request : modified Freelancer faction ID with a scrap bonus like ( or not quite as effective as ) the Junker bonus ?

Well...

I would like to hear opinions and get some experienced feedback here, thx ;-)

In order to get your own ID you need to become Official Faction first. It cannot be done via SRP.
Same goes to acquiring sub-faction ID.

Now the question is HOW to become an official faction. Smile

Quote:II. Process of gaining official status for a faction or group

1. After the faction has 5 or more active members, faction description, ID status, RP story, member list, diplomatic relations with all or most other factions, and any other information regarding the faction should be posted in Faction Creation Requests subforum. Your request may be discussed by other members and administrators but only an administrator can approve or disapprove the faction creation. If the faction will not be approved, reasons will be posted. If the idea didn't come through the first time, you might still get a chance to improve it and get approved.

2. To start the process of approval, the faction needs to provide the administrators team with 500 million credits. The amount will only be refunded if the faction gains official status. Once the process starts, faction tag will also be added to the Faction Activity tracker. Long-lasting unofficial factions and groups with constant activity of at least six months can also post a request here for their tags to be added to the tracker.

3. The request will remain open for three months, and faction performance on both server and forums will be reviewed during this period. After this period, the status request will undergo an admin vote and the results will be posted in the request thread.

4. Upon approval of the official request, the official will receive it's own subforum in the official factions section. Moderation requests for faction sub-forums should be posted here, by the faction leader or his second in command(s), and preferably using the faction forum account.

Officialdom certainly isn't impossible. I'd say there's plenty of room for a group who primarily scrap, and act more like a corporation if anything.

The rule of thumb concerning IDs and tags is that a given tag should only ever be using one ID. In your case, it's the Freelancer ID. If you wanted to identify allied Junkers as having some relationship with T&T, you could use a modified but similar tag. For example, J-T&T. Note that the tag would have to have a modified prefix, not suffix, since a suffix indicates a subdivision of the faction which should still be using the primary ID (ie. T&T-J isn't allowed for this scenario).

In order to acquire a Player Faction ID, you first need to reach Official Status, and the activity requirements for that only count the ships with the primary ID using the main tag. This is generally considered to be quite a time consuming process, usually requiring several months of consistent activity and roleplay.
