History:

The Contari Lance was founded in 815 A.S., its origins rooted in a minor slave uprising within the Contari’s primary cardamine plantation. The slaves violently seized the Contari compound and killed the then-incumbent Contari don, as well as his wife and children, leaving the position open for the deceased don’s brother, Aurelio Contari. Aurelio had those who had led the revolt beheaded, though the rest of the slaves who had participated were freed. He’d armed them after all, and had to find some way to reward them.

With hundreds of freedmen now residing within the compound, Don Aurelio had to find some way to employ them. Aurelio, wishing to prevent another power struggle within the family, armed them, giving birth to the Contari Lance. To ensure the loyalty of the family’s new private military, he made the relatives who had supported him the commanders of the new organization.

Aurelio’s reign of intrigue did not end with his rise and the creation of the Lance. The Contari family’s territory and power were still relatively minor when Aurelio took charge, and he sought to change that. He had remained unmarried (though not childless) until his ascension, and through a marriage with the old, senile, and childless head of the Serpico family, Isabella Serpico, he nearly doubled the amount of territory and slaves under his control.

With the recent acquisition of the Serpico family’s holdings, Don Aurelio charged his son and heir Alessan, as well as his niece Elaria, with controlling the family’s assets outside of Malta, marking the beginning of the Lance’s first spaceborne operations. The Lance currently operates with the goal to expand Contari influence throughout Sirius, resorting to theft, smuggling, murder, and various other crimes to accomplish this.

Recent History

The Lance thrived for years in operation around the northern half of Sirius, taking their dues from the likes of miners and traders, killing any that refused to comply with their demands. They knew however that this could not be achieved on a larger scale without having "connections" afar. The Contari Lance, led by it's high Council members, were responsible for a large amount of the Cardamine trafficking business, dropping off shipments to many places, namely those in Liberty and satisfying the likes of the Junkers and Rogues, in return for Slaves, Light Arms and the lasting agreement to keep their Naval ships out of Rogue territory.

Conflicts however became increasingly common, relations not changing with foreign entities but inside the Outcast nation itself. It's common knowledge within the nation that Outcasts are made up of families, militias and cartels that are not always friendly toward each other. Skirmishes would occur close to the Contari's various Villas and compounds over nothing more than territory and prices. In 821 A.S however, a full scale civil war had broken out between the Lance and the 101st Ghosts of Razgriz who occupied Omicron-85, claiming it for their own. As the result of conflicting beliefs about territory and a long period of tension between them, the day finally came when the Lance made a stand outside the Corsica Sanctum. Blood was shed on both sides, forcing independent Outcasts and other families to pick a side. Toward the end of the confusion and bloodshed, Don Aurelio Contari attempted to resurrect the Council of Dons to bring order to the war. Due to a lack of mutual co-operation and attention, this did not help matters. Once peace was finally restored, this rogue attempt was agreed to be erased for the sake of the lives of the Outcasts and subsequently, the remainder of the Contari Lance.

Following these events, significant damage had been inflicted on the Contari's residential areas and headquarters. This signalled a withdrawal from outer-space operations and the remainder of the Contari Lance, on top of the surviving slaves, were put to work by the High Council members to bring the Lance's ground headquarters and buildings across Savona back to their former glory. In this time, further disagreements within the Contari's higher ranks led to several short-term changes in leadership but now that construction work is nearing completion planet-side, they are able to return to mostly normal operations; these being headed once again by Comandante Luke Orsini.

Ranks:
Fanteria: The Fanteria are comprised primarily of slaves, the poor, or foreign mercenaries. They are replaceable, disposable, and given little respect. The Fanteria that are not slaves are paid well, like all members of the Lance, but they are otherwise treated poorly in all regards.
Allowed Ships: Bombers, Fighters, and Freighters.

Lanciere: The Lanciere comprise the majority of the Lance, and are much more trusted than the Fanteria. They are composed of mercenary Maltese from unrelated families and trusted foreigners. Their pay is more than the Fanteria receive, and certainly enough to maintain a respectable living planetside.
Allowed Ships: Bombers, Fighters, Freighters, Gunboats and Transports.

Cavaliere: The Cavaliere are the few who have been given positions of leadership within the Lance. They are generally in charge of small squadrons of Lanciere, or larger squads of mostly Fanteria. They are required to live within the Lance’s compound on Malta to assure their loyalty, though they are each granted their own luxurious villas.
Allowed Ships: Bombers, Cruisers, Fighters, Freighters, Gunboats and Transports.

Familiare: The Familiare are the members of the Lance who are either distantly related to the Contari family, or have proven themselves to be so valuable that they have been officially adopted into the family, complete with all the rights and responsibilities that entails.
Allowed Ships: Battleships, Bombers, Cruisers, Fighters, Freighters, Gunboats and Transports.

Comandante: The Comandante are the Lance’s executive commanders, answering only to the don of the Contari family. They oversee the entirety of the Lance in the name of the don, and all major imperatives are issued directly by them.
Allowed Ships: Battleships, Bombers, Cruisers, Fighters, Freighters, Gunboats and Transports.

Roster:
Fanteria:
  • Bonita Belmonte
  • Antonia Allegri
  • Charlie Peterson

Lanciere:
  • Xavier Pastore
  • Lucrezia Acerbo
  • Pedro Alvarez
  • Dario Peruzzi

Cavaliere:
  • Cipriano Adimari
  • Akane Nakahara

Familiare:
  • Marcio Castro
  • Drago Celestino

Comandante:
  • Mansel Alcantra-Contari (// 2ic)
  • Luke Orsini-Contari

Recruitment - Here. Submit your application and one of HC will add you on Skype if you have been successful.

// Recent History will be subject to small adjustments in terms of detail once comms threads etc. are pulled up for accuracy. Recruitment will also be open as usual but again, in a new thread. OC's need activity again and as there are a couple of other OC groups cropping up, we feel that now is a good time to bring CL} back.

I can only say yes. Yes, please.

RE: CL} - The Contari Lance + Feedback - Jack_Henderson - 07-26-2014

Nice to see an attempt to resurrect Outcasts. There has been something missing, especially in the Taus, for quite a while now. Good luck!

RE: CL} - The Contari Lance + Feedback - Panzer - 07-26-2014

I liked you better dead. Back to the coffin please.

RE: CL} - The Contari Lance + Feedback - Luke. - 07-26-2014

Zayne, in RP it's still completely feasible for CL} to exist.

Panzer, it'll actually give CR| something else to log for so I'm not sure why you're complaining.

RE: CL} - The Contari Lance + Feedback - Omicron - 07-26-2014

No offense but CL should've stayed dead. To not sound biased, 101st should share a grave too and let other players to pick up the reigns.

There are not a lot of players who wish to create an outcast faction, let alone go official and make it something big. It is better to have something rather than nothing.

RE: CL} - The Contari Lance + Feedback - An'shur - 07-26-2014

I agree with Moriarty.
Also as I said in many other threads, Omicrons will undergo rework which will (at least I hope!) bring Corsairs closer to Outcasts. This will return activity to these two factions. So stop saying "Stay in graveyard" I wish CL} luck.
