The Void Runners

Because we are all just crazy enough to pull it off - Deidre Shard

The Void Runners are known to provide the following services... For a price.

Exploration and Intellegence - Preliminary surveying of new or wrecked sites requiring restoration. System and asset status reports on designated targets or groups. Specialising in Edgeworld and hostile area reconnaissance.

Escort and Security Services - Providing security for anything from transport fleets to damaged capital vessels to increased security of modular installations.

Mercenary Services - Need to send a message? We can do it, for a price.

Overview -
Operating from an undisclosed mobile base of operations, the Void Runners are a failed mining company looking to widen their skill set. They are highly secretive and cult-like, usually operating near Freelancer bases to pick up business. Their motivations are eccentric and resource driven, sometimes requesting payments in exotic ores, materials, or technology. They have a habit of restoring wrecked or abandoned installations and squatting in them. After the restoration of the Moros Depot, they have targeted a new installlation in Sigma 13 and it is possible that they are responsible for repressurising the wreck of Yanagi and utilising it, and within weeks it was relocated and reopened with a new name - Newport Station.

History -
An edgeworld mining consortium of unknown origins, it is rumoured this group was responsible for the unauthorised restoration of a ground support facility at the edge of the sector. When the original owners discovered the restored depot, the group, with increasing attention on them, agreed to hand over the depot in order to avoid hostilities. It is unknown what payment - if any - they received for their efforts.

With their resources dwindling the group revamped their operation, mobilising their assortment of gathered vessels and expanding their skills to incorporate tactics they had learned in their time in the Omicrons. Exploring hostile environments, reconnaissance, and defending or eliminating assets became their specialisation.

Designation/Indentification
Naming format - [?]Firstname.Lastname
Allowed ID's - Freelancer ID
Allowed IFF's - Freelancer IFF
Base of Operations - [?]CV-Evolution - undisclosed mobile base of operations.

Faction motivations and goals -
The Void Runners are secretive and seem to have no clear goals other than to gather resources and further themselves. They are eccentric and aloof in diplomatic matters, and have no clear enemies.

Secondary goals -
There are several versions of what it is the Void Runners are really up to, but recent reports say their myriad of vessels are well armed, with a number of bombers, fighters and even a few gunships under their control. It is said they are poachers, moving in on an area and developing it, then demanding compensation when they are discovered, effectively holding the landlord to ransom for a peaceful resolution. Some say they harbour visitors from another sector and worship them fervently. Others say they are quite normal, while others will say they are quite insane. Stories vary from source to source. They appear to have an agenda of confusion and don't wan't anyone knowing their intentions. In any case the verification of any of the above scenarios to date is flimsy at best.

Ranking structure -
[?]Deidre.Shard (|nfrared) - Administrator of the Void Runners.
[?]Fred.Splinter (Captain_Nemo) - Security and Defence Enforcer.
[?]Billy.Crankshaft (Unlucky_Soul) - Lead Maintenance and Development Engineer.
[?]Rex Johansen (Shaggy) - Exploration and Recon Division Leader.

Technology -
Borderworlds and Civilian Technology only - The Void Runners typically use an assortment of vessel available on the open market. This can make them difficult to track over long distances.

Zone of Influence -
With a mobile command centre the Void Runners can potentially provide their services throughout Sirius, though they tend to avoid House systems where possible.

Diplomacy -

Allied - None

Friendly - Other Freelancers.

Neutral/Trading relationship - Everyone else.

Unfriendly/Cautious - House Corporations, Military Armed Forces and Law Enforcement

Hostile - Nomads/Wild.

Recruitment -
The Void Runners rarely allow new entrants to their ranks, and the procedure for gaining entry is unknown.

OORP-
This faction is the face of the few remaining aliens known as the Etherium as most humans see them. There are less than a dozen awakened Etherium remaining, but their intellectual prowess allows them to control multiple human beings via their viral prion implants. For more information see the Etherium faction proposal in my sig.

I realised I should have done this ages ago. This provides a front for our true intentions, and will hopefully facilitate future RP.
