Considering I've learned some neat tricks in the art of shieldboxing, I don't think there are many shapes that I can't make work. Hell, even the Gallic Miner VHF, the Courbe (roughly the size of a small moon) now has a shieldbox that fits the new norm (for the next update).

The most important thing to consider is that you don't want 'appendages' sticking out in many directions, far from the ship. Tends to be rather painful for the front profile in particular.

Guess no one wants to model those beautiful ships?

RE: Ship Modelling Request: Coalition Snubline - Jinx - 09-19-2014

snake posted a nice fighter ship already - or 3 pictures of one, why not try to use that? it looks fine - although not quite the ones from the intro of course - those have round cockpits. ( mind you, those are more than 8 centuries old - so what was linked in those thumbnails fits well if you insist on this inversed Y shape )

edit:

anyway - playing around with postprocessing and a few edgefinder filters - here is the best idea the old snubs may have looked, - not so much the sharp angled ships they seem to prefer now...

We can't use those... The owner of the model doesn't approve. That's why if someone's able to model, Jinx what about you? Comon you had some good models (y) I'm sure you can make this one too Smile or at least try Tongue ANYONE PLEASE! xD Something between that centuries old model and the 4.85 model would actually be nice.

RE: Ship Modelling Request: Coalition Snubline - Tabris - 09-19-2014

The problem with the .85 models is that they nolonger meet the standards put forth by the Development team and need to be re-worked. Sad Hence why we are putting this request out there.

RE: Ship Modelling Request: Coalition Snubline - Mao - 09-19-2014

Jinx knows how to model vertical stuff.

RE: Ship Modelling Request: Coalition Snubline - Jinx - 09-19-2014

i'll try a few concepts - but the scra ships is not exactly my kind of design, also i prefer horizontal stuff, but we' ll see.

here - 3 concepts ( those are not final models, they are only design studies ) - from top to bottom - light, heavy, bomber [ oh, no, its a russian helicopter cockpit imported, what will we do?! ]
