The Server - Wildkins - 10-10-2014

So, I suppose I want to ask what's been going on with the server lately.

What I mean by that is - why does it suddenly explode into a complete mess of lag every time a group fight happens? For the past month it's been doing this, and I know it didn't do it before now. Now, any fight over 8-10 people is basically unplayable, as ships skip around, missiles don't move, CDs don't track, et cetera. What happened that made the server so unstable, especially considering the lower than average population recently?

(Or am I just crazy, and has it always done this? I mean, I look at my older (May) group fight videos and it's not lagging, but...*shrug*)

No Idea but It's true none the less. I think its some minor update that they have done, its always like that.

Regarding that fight in texas, it maybe also had to do with the stations getting their attack speed increased with 20+ players present. Firing 2 razors per second and that applied to normal guns too is just a whole lot of projectiles. Combined with the projectiles to calculate for player ships as well probably creates a whole lot of traffic/work - more than the server can apparently handle at once.

Yes, I'm quite aware. The thing is, I've fought at Texas before with almost the same amount of people and no lag, three or four months ago. I can go find the video if you wish, but it was incredibly smooth, unlike what happened today. (And has been happening for the last few weeks, even when no stations are nearby (i.e. Tau-23, Leeds, Magellan, etc.))
