Deciding on new graphics card - dirmaster0 - 11-23-2014 I've decided to upgrade my GPU from a Nvidia Geforce 650 GTX (EVGA Superclocked) to one of the following... 980 Or 970 Help Dir decide meow! RE: Deciding on new graphics card - Captain - 11-23-2014 if you have the money to spare, 980, otherwise 970 RE: Deciding on new graphics card - sindroms - 11-23-2014 Make sure the rest of your hardware won't bottleneck the thing first. RE: Deciding on new graphics card - Alley - 11-23-2014 http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html for the price difference, unless you plan to use a 2K or 4K monitor, I'd recommend getting the 970. Although as spazzy pointed out, please list the rest of your hardware so we have a better idea of what to suggest. RE: Deciding on new graphics card - dirmaster0 - 11-24-2014 http://pcpartpicker.com/p/gG8hjX The build so far (minus the Liquid cooler) & SSD (will be replaced soon) RE: Deciding on new graphics card - evanz - 11-24-2014 also make sure your got a good enough psu, not just the wattage but the amps RE: Deciding on new graphics card - Alley - 11-24-2014 there's a few things about that build. That watercooling doesn't really look great, go for a Kuhler H2O 920 or a Corsair Hydro. Also a TN Acer screen can be "okay" as second screen, but definitely not as primary. The colors suck ass and TN just ruins your day. For your primary screen grab an IPS/E-IPS screen, you'll find the colors much more lovely. iiyama provides good IPS screens for a nice deal, but I'm not sure of their availability worldwide. For SSDs : Crucial is the best brand Last point is your power supply. 1000w is absolutely overkill. 600w will cover a non-overclocked system. If you plan to overclock, 700/800w will be more than enough. 1000w is what you'd take for a multi-gpu build. However, I hope to upgrde whole rig in the future. Performance/Price ratio for GTX 970 is so much better from all the reviews, that you would only be looking at 980 if you have nowhere else to shift money to. |
