Video editing software? - Sciamach - 01-25-2015

I'm presently in the market for some video editing software...

I've got Adobe's free download of Premier2.0 but it refuses to launch...

I'm really unable to spend any cash right now, so anyone know of any free-video editing software that runs on Windows?

I know theres one for Linux but I've only got Linux on my crappy laptop and its about to be replaced so--.. yeah

any ideas?

I have Sony Vegas, and it's awesome. It's possible to get it for free, but I don't know anything about that.

that sort of thing is often bundled with a Burner ask your mates if they have pick one up. could be they have a spare copy. it may be only part of a suite like Nero but you can still do alot with them. i use Roxio Creator NXT and it serves my simple needs well, wether its good bad or indiferent i cant say

Sony vegas.

Just be ready to read a lot of tutorials online. Think of it as Gimp but for videos.

The real trick is that all default projects are saved at 720p regardless of the input file size, so don't be too happy when your test videos converts under 10 minutes. You must google the so called "Sony Vegas Youtube Optimal" settings, so that your videos are encoded fast when on YT.

Premiere and Shadowplay don't get along very well, as Shadowplay records in variable framerate and Adobe, generally, don't give a damn. I think VFR was one of the most requested features for Premiere ever since CS2 and maybe before and nobody gave a flying F about it.

As I told you on teh teamspeaks, Kdenlive for Linux is definitely the best free video editing software period. You could try installing yourself an Ubuntu under Wubi. If you don't want to do that, I think the only reasonable free alternatives to Kdenlive under Windows are Avidemux and VirtualDub. If you don't need much complex video editing, you can try Freemake Video Converter, or alternatively, just use the Windows Movie Maker.

I personally use Sony Vegas Pro 13 though and would suggest it as well if you can afford it/get it in other ways.
