Dev News: April - Alley - 04-08-2015

April is going to be a pretty busy month for us. As you might have noticed the dev team hasn't been posting much about what's happening with the development, but that's mostly because we've been busy dealing with other things.

- The permission glitch

A few days ago, the whole forum was visible for a few minutes after the web server glitched and caused all permissions to reset to MyBB's default. This bug has been fixed and can't happen again, but damage has been done.

Some individuals saved content from the Administrator forum which was also visible among all others. While some people have proven responsible and kept it to themselves, one has decided to leak some of the informations he saved and even dared to lie to the admin team. This never ends well, so don't do it.

- Big changes are coming

The server team ( @Blodo @Alley and @Cannon ) has been discussing server improvements for the past two months. We've finally settled on a choice and we will begin moving the server in very late April. The community will not notice anything as we'll spend most of our time preparing everything behind the scenes and all that will be needed is to take down the forums and game server for a few hours.

This is the conclusion of the server test the community participated in on 2nd April, except the server we're getting is faster than what we tested it on and will also run on SSDs. Performance will be greatly improved and latency will be greatly reduced in most high latency cases.

- April's game patch

April will see the release of our final bugfix patch, which means we will start working on new content. Among the things you'll find in April's patch is:

- Cloaking device batteries added to Gallic stations
- Hidamari's SRP (maybe, if he's nice)
- Fixed Texas-Minnesota JH
- New hitbox for the Wraith
- The new Barge
- Corvo rework
- Split between transport shields (Freighters will now be class 5, light transports class 6 and heavy transports class 7)
- Codenames will now have their own damage type.
- Cannonball missile improvements
- Gunboat turrets rebalance.
- Healing guns for the repair ship. While the items will be in the files, they will be released when the FLHook code for it is ready.
- Cloak disruptors, hyperdrive disruptors, hyperspace matrix & beacons. While the items will be in the files, they will be released when the FLHook code for it is ready.
- Infocard references to "BHG Core" have been changed to "The Core", and BHG tech is now labelled as APM tech. This does not change accessibility.

- April's survey

I think Carriers should use these healing guns too but more powerfull only for battleship repairs.
