Risks. I never really took those in account. It was easy to create the tech dossiers, since the vessels I scanned either allowed it, (not knowing how detailed the scanning will be) or the pilots weren't aware that they are being scanned. The Viewfinder always did a good work. After the first five scans, the AI operated with a decent speed, assisting the scanning operation. The superior engine was able to catch up with some fighters even. Not to mention the weapons systems. The enhanced targeting sensors worked like a charm. It even repelled a Nomad attack in the Omicrons. And not just some of those low flying squids. The ones with the singularity cannon.

So what's up with all the past tense? Easy. The Viewfinder is no more. I was about to gather some data on Corsair vessel engines. The problem is, my reputation with the Corsairs isn't the best. Well, I did tickle some of their gunboats when I was to be pirated. So, to cut it short, I'll just say what happened:

I scrapped a few of their fighters, and a bomber too. It's way easier to gather data from disassembled targets. This was the problem exactly. Soon, they called backup. Two gunboats. Well, that's how you ruin a perfectly fine vessel. The Viewfinder suffered serious damage to the following:

- Cruise engine: The wired systems got completely destroyed. Good thing it was on a separate wiring. Otherwise, I wouldn't be writing this down.

- Shield Generator: As good as dead. It got blown into tiny pieces. Luckily, the automated mechanism cut it off from the power core, before it could drain all of the ship's energy down.

- Weapons Computer: Some minor damages. The targeting system is jammed. It'll shoot still, but it's accuracy is below 50%

- The ship hull itself: More holes than on an Emmental cheese. It would cost less to get a completely new hull, than to fix it.

So, all in all, I won't have the Viewfinder repaired. Sadly, not only the Viewfinder, but the Wayfinder suffered too. I have sent it to scout, and gather data about the ore fields in gallia, the weapon systems used there, and of course about my favourite topic, engines.

A battleship blasted it into pieces.

Well, every problem solved, is another revealed. But, I have the solution. A "Corvo" Zoner Deep Space Explorer. By acquiring that vessel, I would be able to make trips to the Omicrons. So, I'll do just that. Soon.
