LR- Disbandment consequences on Rogue RP - The Liberty Rogues - 11-25-2015

Hello there. As most of you already know by now, the Liberty Rogues player faction has been disbanded to make room for a new RP-centric group which will be unveiled later on this year.

There are, however, a few loose ends to tie up and one of them, being something the other faction leaders have asked about, is the roleplay explanation of the disbandment and how it would impact the current situation within the NPC faction IRP.

After a bit of discussing on the subject with the more active people within the faction, the overall agreement is that one of the initial ''problems'' with the LR- was that the faction (as the name implies) represents the whole of Liberty Rogues.

There was a Crime Boss/Crimelord/Warlord at the top, who pulled on all the strings and was the centerpiece of what is one of the largest and diverse NPC factions within the Freelancer lore and then there were the other Rogues underneath.

This meant that the existence of LR- as an official player faction had a negative impact on other potential Rogue groups, because - IRP - they would still be bound to the original faction and the established hierarchy and that was a turnoff for many.

In other words, no Rogue player group or faction should ever represent the ''whole'' of the NPC faction. Period.

With the disbandment of the LR- we decided to explain the situation as such:

* The Liberty Rogues are, in essence, a huge assortment of smaller and larger groups as well as individuals with varying agendas and influence. Rogues continue to have no one specific goal and are viewed mostly as a huge collection of pirates, terrorists, smugglers, slavers and other nasties from and bordering Liberty by the lawfuls.

* There is no one central leadership, albeit different groups can hold different levels of power and influence over their territories. As it stands, each and every of the many Rogue installations have one or few leading groups and can function autonomously and can be approached by other factions as separate entities with different diplomatic preferences or lack thereof.

* Buffalo base in New York is the center of ''fun'' for the Rogues and should not be ''owned'' or ''represented'' by any one player-group for the sake of ''fairness'' oorp.

The Liberty Rogue lore depicts the NPC faction as a huge and diverse melting pot of various agendas, beliefs, motivations and ways to achieve them. Hopefully these changes will allow new groups to explore them much better than with the old approach of the original player faction being simply called the "Liberty Rogues".

Any questions or concerns can be discussed and answered in this thread.
