New player and consistant 1000ping+ - Majestic - 01-01-2016

Hey all,

I'm brand new to Discovery. (Downloaded it yesterday) I'm keen to start however, I've noticed that I get a consistant 1kping + which makes combat unplayable.

Pictures attached. There's nothing wrong with my internet, nothing downloading. tried dns flushes, everything I can think of.

Whereabouts is the server located? I understand that because I'm in Australia I will always be at 200-400ping. But 1k+? You'd have to be on the moon for that to be normal!

Server List. (All other servers less then half of the one I want to play on! Sad

It's extremely frustrating as it affects loading times, chatting and almost every element of the game.
Again, it's just me on the network. Nothing downloading so that's not the issue. Otherwhise it'd be spiking. It's staying consistant at 1000-1200 ping

Help appreciated!

This thread still has relevant information on how you can test your connection to the server. However, the destination IP address to check against these days would be 51.254.85.204 (not discogc.game-host.org - that host still points to a Hetzner IP, where the server used to be hosted). All this test will do is tell you where most of the latency/loss is being introduced along the current shortest path between you and the server. There may not be much you can do about it on your end besides trying obvious things like NoMe's suggestion (or using a wired connection). If the issue is between your router and the server (which it looks to be based on the fact that you have much lower ping to other servers), neither of those suggestions will make any difference, as each hop along the way decides where the next "least cost" hop is, based on various magic formulas and internetese whispers. You could also test against the old hostname, just to see if Hetzner is better than OVH from .au - it won't help you now, but could be interesting for some people to know.

Best of luck mate, and happy new year!

I'm getting the same problem I think in the discovery server. I can't work out why my game crashes to desktop when trying to load in. Doesn't happen on any other server. I'm in Thailand with very fast internet
