Kusari Naval Intelligence Division

Central Communications Console

Following the loss of the old JN-31 Kempeitai Communications Network, the KNI has configured a new secure data transmission network for their field Agents usage. The channel is accessible to all members of the KNI, and managed by the KNI HQ, under the oversight of the KNF Tokkeitai and Admiralty.

[With the integration in the Naval Forces structures, the KNI has provided some limited access to their reports for the KNF command structure. All messages and reports should have a designated clearance level in their header.]

The Security Status is as follows.

=Internal Directive = This Message content is issued by the Command of KNI, and is directed to the KNI structure alone. Contents of these messages are considered Secret, and "For Your Eyes Only".

=High+ = Message content is of considerable importance to the security of Kusari, and is disclosed to the High Command of the KNF (Kaisho-ho and above) in addition to the KNI Command.

=High = This message contains the most crucial information or orders, and is destined for the command of the KNI eyes only.

=Medium+ = Message content is of importance to the security of Kusari, and is disclosed to the Medium Command of the KNF (Nito Kaisa and above) in addition to the KNI structure.

=Medium = This message contains security sensitive information or orders, and is accessible to agents and command of the KNI only.

=Low = This message contains information of patrols and standard mission reports, and is accessible to agents and command of the KNI.

Karasu.no.Kage here. We have performed the first patrols under the new banner, and the results were positive.

I've started my sortie in the New Tokyo system, where a KNF patrol was operating. [KNF]Ka.Ryouma.Sakamoto and [KNF]Ni.Mutsu.Ryuzoji were doing the rounds and we discussed the new situation. KNI|Falz.Angel and KNI|Mizu.no.Seiriei came up to duty as well, and a short patrol on Honshu was decided while we were operating with the KNF. A State police officer [KP]Hideyoshi.Honda was providing surveillance support from another location. Saw a transport with an unusual shipment of food cargo branded as Sunbucks.

The patrol in Honshu was uneventful, as the lanes were secured and all stops checked. Sakamota-san warned us and his colleagues that the GMG had engaged in a fire fight with KNF patrols a few days ago, the reasons not very clear. It is possible that some investigation regarding GMG security measures needs to be performed.

[KP] Honda-san reported a reading of a ship with corsair signature emissions, and the KNF patrol decided to investigate. Initially Falz was to accompany them and the rest of the KNI to tend to other patrols, but Sakamoto-san had to leave the field, so Mizu.no.Seirei was also sent to support the KNF and KP investigations.

I headed to Hokkaido and Rishiri, checking for any unlawful activity and gathering as much field intel as I could. The wing reported an encounter with Exile fighter groups, and a skirmish occurred. Refer to their reports for more details.

Rishiri was clear, and so I ventured into Nagano to investigate any progress of the Blood Dragon incursion. Mackinac and Tomioka seemed to be faring well so far, although the lack of Naval Forces or Blood Dragon heavy patrols was highly concerning.

[Image: FpyO4OBs.png] [Image: 3x7oQDGs.png] [Image: GsRHjfqs.png]

I arrived at the main spaceport of Tomioka, and talked with a contact of ours there, Puffy. While the KNF has reinforced the land security in the spaceport and main settlements, the Dragons are advancing in more isolated areas, and are likely entrenching them in several regions that will make it difficult to rat them out.

On my return to New Tokyo, a report that the patrol had been successful in the combat with the Exiles reached me. The [KNF]Ni.Mutsu.Ryuzoji thanked the efforts of the KNI that helped her, and retired back to her base. Soon after the KNI patrol did the same.

A few moments ago, one of the surveillance vessels picked up an unknown broadcast being transmitted throughout Kusari's sub channels. Our team was on standby for action, and we attempted to decrypt it. Results can be found here. A short summary follows.

We managed to determine that the broadcast type transmission bore an signature typical of Outcast communications. Keywords 101st and Ghosts were linked to the signature, and we will have to compare with databases for possible matches.

We were however, unable to identify the content encryption key, nor break it and access the contents. While we were unable to determine what they were trying to communicate, we have marked the encryption image as OC-1, and hope to test it's strengths again in any future communication interception.

Lastly, we tried to trace back the message to the Outcast source or proxies, but we were unable to pinpoint any relay nodes or approximate location. It is possible that they came from inside Kusari.

Advise all surveillance units to keep an ear close to those signal systems and watch out for more unknown broadcasts the coming days. The Outcasts might be on the move.

Agent Majin, signing off.

Viewing Transmission...

Yesterday, I've received a mission to reach out to Nago Station and review the situation on the Kishiro base and how well the base is holding up behind enemy lines. The jump gate was already under tight Imperial control, so the only option was to go around the surrounding systems to reach the base safely - Tau-23.

The findings upon reaching Nago were disasterous. I've started a connection with docking control of the station, where I was briefed on the conditions the station is in. It seems that the Exiles have made an embargo on the station and Kishiro vessels can no longer pass into Kusari from the western border. The station has lost stockpiles due to the decreased amount of suppliers. Considering that Nago's main export is headed to Kusari, this can mean no good - the station has fell out of use. Some started taking alternate, dangerous routes filled with pirates - through the same system I entered Tau-29.

Unfortunately, I could not learn more as an Imperial patrol noticed my presence. Cutting off the connection to Nago to avoid suspicion, I had to retreat back to Kusari.

The Imperial was tenacious, though, and kept being on my tail until we reached Kyushu, where I could no longer tolerate his presence. The ship pilot's callsign was Aramaki Hideo. We exchanged words, but he only proved to be completely indoctrinated to serve his Emperor, rather than the interests of the people. With no will to surrender or leave Kusari permanently peacefully, we engaged in a duel.

Unfortunately, the Imperial continued to show shame and managed to escape my grasp at the final moment.. It seems like all they can do effectively is withdraw. At least that ship will need a -lot- of repairs to be fully functional again.

This concludes yesterday's report.

Karasu.no.Kage here. I was dispatched to Tohoku to assist the KNF in the interrogation of a VIP that had been detained a few hours before. According to the data I've received from the Naval Forces, the prisoner is known as Hana Ken, and is suspected to have links with the Golden Chrysanthemums.

However, I was not able to delve deeper into this subject, as the Sado Battlegroup became the target of a squadron of two Blood Dragon Battleships, accompanied by a myriad of small craft. The KNF deployed fighters to deal with the escorts, while the Sado prepared for confrontation with the battleship Waursawa, which called for reinforcements of the second capital Kongo.

KNI was tasked with support of the Sado, using bombers to damage the Battleships. The KNF patrol managed to take down most of the escorts, and was then able to call for additional reinforcements.

Meanwhile, a wing of small craft from what appeared to be the Order appeared in the area. They refrained from engagement, but signalled intent of defending the Blood Dragon squadron should they make a retreat. They got something to make themselves busy, as a small nomad specimen stumbled into the battlefield, and was taken out by the gaijin agents.

The Sado gave quite a battle against the Warusawa and the Kongo, and both battleships took several hits on the armour, although not enough to make critical damage or incapacitate them, as they managed to pull from the battle at will. The KNF battlecruiser [KNF]KDS-Shirayuki arrived in the final heat of the battle to secure the location, and the Dragon capital assets retreated under the cover of the Order, without being pursuit.

During the time of the previous actions, two unknown vessels entered the area of operations as well. They remained after the Blood Dragons retreated, so we turned our attentions to them and their violations of restricted space.

One was a freelancer of name Ren.Ishiyama , pilot of a Sutinga, and seemingly a capable pilot, since the KNF was unable to apprehend him when the occasion called for it. While it displayed no treasonous intentions, it should be marked under persons of interest, and interviewed/questioned next time the opportunity to meet him appears.

The second vessel was a Rheinland Wraith, callsign Eiszeit, Rheinland intelligence allegiance. It was mostly evasive regarding his intentions in the restricted sector, and acted with contempt towards the law forces. He was neutralized by me and captured by the Shirayuki, to be interrogated and eventually deported.

It is unknown the status of the Battleship Sado after that battle, and the KNF should come up with a damage report soon enough. I've managed to gather intel on the two battleships and their condition, which should prove valuable for future planning operations in the Tohoku system.

Karasu no Kage, signing off.

A few hours ago, the Rheinland Police has issued a public notification regarding a certain type of weaponry commodities of unknown origins, identified with a yet unknown Kemwer Manufacuring.

The Kusari Naval Intelligence Division still lacks any intel to make an assessment regarding the nature or potential dangers of this new weapon systems to advise the government and law enforcement on measures to take.

From this moment onward, all agent are to stop and interrogate any transport found carrying any and all cargo related to this "Kemwer" designation, and find out as much as possible about their origin and properties. Whenever possible, agents should try to retrieve samples for testing in military labs. Negotiation before confiscation or forceful retrieval is the priority though.

KNI over and out.

The KNI arranged a tripartite meeting with the KNF and the BDM, in the Honshu system, to perform the exchange or personnel, materials and ideas that are of mutual concern. I had the honor of representing our division in it's first meetings with the foreign intelligence service, alongside agent Falz.Angel.

We were joined by Admiral Hideaki Ishikawa and Commander Sanada Junko of the Naval Forces, and together we received the BDM comitee in Akita border station, headed by the Director Volker Koch. An agent named Karin.Eisner accompanied him.

After an exchange of greetings, we moved onto the meeting location. We delivered the Rheinland agent Esizeit and other prisoners to them, and we received some crates of these famed Kemwer Munitions weaponry. Admiral Ishikawa took some of them too, and initial observations of the content indicate a varied type of warfare applications, and some security measures applied to all equipment. Folks at Kansai will have some work with those for the months to come.

An Order agent was found snooping around at the time of the meeting, officer Sanada managed to locate it and force him out of the meeting zone. There was no danger to any party, but it is lamentable that it managed to get away.

We relocated to another secluded area, and discussed various topics of concern, like the Core and expeditions to the Omicrons, the recent spats with the Gas Miners Guild, border security and cooperation's treaties and information exchange.

At last, the Director informed us of another meeting he was bound to, and the BDM were escorted back to the Sigmas, where we bid them farewell and wishes of future meetings.

A transcript of the meeting follows, separated by topics.
Ah, and Falz-san has requested that I submit a proposal regarding future expeditions to the Omicrons, to be worked in conjunction with the BDM and the Core. More on that on another occasion.

Division command assigned me to perform an operation in the Nagano system, delivering a small unit of recon soldiers and supplies to the settlements in Tomioka. I was accompanied by [KNF]Kh.H.Ishikawa , who provided escort and scouting duties to our fast transport.

1

We set course to Nagano, heading to the frontlines. Upon arriving on the system, we notice some activity from enemy patrol, but we manage to slip through due to some disturbance unknown to us.

1 2 3

We arrive at Tomioka safely, and deliver the much needed supplies. We were ready to take aboard any civilians needing evacuation from the system, but it seems most of them managed to acquire private transport out of the system. (//couldn't buy passengers on Mackinac...).
We instead loaded the transport with needed war supplies, and proceeded with the return trip, taking some time to investigate the enemy movements we had seen before, if they were still there.

1 2

We found not any Blood Dragons or GC, but in their place a large liner, commanded by one pilot called Eppi-san. This "private entertainment business" vessel was equipped with a cloaking device, and Admiral Ishikawa commanded the vessel to return to Yokohama for shutdown of the system, before being escorted out to Rheinland, it's place of origin. Conversation records follow in annex.

1 2 3 4 5 6

The KNF reports delays on any counter offensive on Nagano due to concerns of overextension, not sure in what way. Nagano and Rishiri are not properly the best systems to keep every square kilometre under direct surveilance, and it's battle lines are settling down in specific places. It would be for the best that we placed our forces in the strongest strategic places, or the enemy will occupy themselves.

The recovered materials will prove useful for the research and development efforts at Kansai. Command might issue more mission for resource collection in the near future.

Following the arrival of this report from Rheinland Military about unknown agents working under the name of the Kusari state in the Omicrons, Command assigned me on an express envoy to New Berlin, so as to contact representatives of the RM and BDM about this matter.

I was also ordered to deliver some advanced engine components, in compensation for the efforts of the BDM in delivering us samples of the Kemwer Munitions assets some weeks ago.

I arrived in New Berlin safely, and established contact with agents of the BDM, Erika.Keller and Isabelle.Engler, as well as [RM]Fl.Sarah.Maller .

Both organizations showed a level of activity that indicated that something troubling was happening at the moment, although the BDM| assured me that representative Einfeld would be able to meet me.

[Image: CZokWsus.png] [Image: 66Yc8Phs.png] [Image: ZrZjogqs.png]

I was unable to convene our information or questions to either the [RM] or BDM| during the mission period, so I returned to Kusari, after delivering the previously mentioned materials to Alster Shipyard.

Also notable was the presence of an AI construct in a fighter chassis, which wandered into New Berlin and struck a conversation with us. It was socially capable, and showed not threatening actions. The BDM| agents showed weariness to its presence.

Agent Majin, Signing off.

Greetings command. At the end of the past month me and other agents were assigned to a scouting operation in the Omicron systems, as part of the developing interests of the KNI in the region. Main objectives were to reach common zoner settlements deep in the Omicrons, namely Freeport 11, to map the routes into Core controlled areas and installation to set up secure convoy routes, and to map and record any other astronomical feature of importance.

On departure, I joined agents Tengu's.Treasure and Mizu.no.Seirei on Akita border station, where we had the chance of spotting a freelancer at the commands of the rumoured new model of gunboat designed by the Gas Miners Guild for operations in the Sigmas. Other than the slimmer design, its capabilities were not readily apparent.

Our patrol headed to the Sigma region, reaching the vicinity of Kunashir cloud. Previous cartography by Samura indicated a passage to Omicron Theta, but it was decided to pursue an alternative route.

Such decision took us to a desolate system, which the neural net analysis correlated to the name "Omicron Minor". The systems revealed (or still revealed? need comparison with KNF archives) of a extended conflict that may happened years ago. The number of old wreckage of Core and Order origin was high, and spread around a volcanically active planet, codename Toledo.

After checking the larger remains of war vessels, we continued on looking for traces of civilized life signs or settlements.

We jumped into another system, which showed a more stable stellar balance, and we were able to perform some cartography studies at our own pace.

1

Another passage was located, which confirmed the scarce information we had and led us to the Omicron Delta system, where the Zoners had settled a considerable presence. Soon we found Freeport 11, our first objective.

1

We have spent some days in and around the station, giving time to make a report on the common movement of the settlement, and establishing contact with frequent residents and travellers of the region.
It seems that frequent skirmishes with Nomad vessels occur, and most pilots carry some remains as sort of trophies or goods for trade, consequence of their activity in the dangerous area.

Contacts of note are described below:

Sirens.Bell (Tara Snow) - 1 2 3

A pilot of a Corvo explorer vessel, which incorporated some unusual internal components. The pilot Tara Snow appeared to be a frequent visitor of the system, although it was not part of the zoner residents. Other than her non hostile stance toward us, she may prove a reliable source of information and opinion about local events and entities.

BDM| , Order, Core, Zoners - 1 2 3

On several occasions we met operatives of the Rheinland BDM, of the more local Core organization, and some representatives of the erratic Order. They seem to converge frequently on the neutral Zoner installation, for the purposes of providing security against the nomad presence, and meet other parties on what is neutral ground by a series of unspoken agreements. A semblance of organic order in this wild space.
BDM|Kms-R.Kiesewetter was the BDM agent we met during our expedition, and it is possible that future operations would meet him again in the area. Always confirm that it is a legitimate agent, as there have been reports before of nomad infested cells operating under the guise of rheinland military and related agencies.
The Zoners maintain a strong defence force on the station, that seems to react when heavy space traffic in the surroundings is noticeable.

On the last days, a freelancer by the name Sian.Bracon told us of an ancient construct in the Omicron Minor system we had visited before, and promised to guide us there in return for some money. I picked the recently arrived agent KNI|Falz.Angel that had joined the expedition and we followed the traveller, which brought us to a large space gate of alien origins. Unsure if it is of nomad origin, or older. The freelancer said it was there for as long as anyone remembers, and that it is seldom visited. No human patrols or installations were present in the area, and the pilot said no one dared to remain or set up near the place for too long. Visual evidence follows.

Unsure if his informations about the secrecy of the construct were valid, we decided to cover his silence about our presence with some additional funds, which he thanked.

Finally, I've gathered enough information from the core pilots and staff on Freeport 11 to know most common routes that would bring me to Core secured fronts. Passage to the Rho system was identified and mapped, and I reached the main installation that I had access to, Durban Station and Alabama Shipyard.

I did not take long in the system, as I had concluded my secondary objective. The various information gathered during our time there was sufficient, and the wing was ordered to gradually make his way back to Kusari via their own means. I arrived some days later, via the sigma region.

This concludes my report on the Omicron expedition in March, 823A.S.

Karasu no Kage, signing off.
