The Pilgrim is okay to be asymmetric because it's beauty lies in how ugly it is and asymmetry adds to that. That doesn't mean the same would look nice on the Bustard, the current WIP model is already less symmetric than the rest of the line (Serenity, Voyager).

you basically just said that asymmetry = ugly
That is definitely not true. Infact lots of asymmetrical designs are beautiful and much more appealing than symmetrical designs.
Even in rules of art asymmetry is better than symmetry.

Anyway, Ill make a sketch of what I am thinking and post here in a bit i guess

RE: Civilian carrier. WIP - Thyrzul - 05-17-2016

I didn't say asymmetry is ugly, I said that in the case of the Pilgrim it adds to its ugliness. Interpreting it as "asymmetry = ugly" is generalization, so is saying that "asymmetry > symmetry every time", and it makes you look shallow and simple. It's not black and white, you should know that before talking about the rules of art.

asymmetry is not 'shallow' and far more it is not 'simple'
I would rather argue that symmetry is more shallow and simple than asymmetry.

furthermore, i have been doing art for a while now including studying architecture which celebrates often asymmetry.
You?

im not claiming things are black and white but im far more opposed on taking the easy route of symmetry over asymmetry.

Refer to my signature please.

Hablas inglés?

Lol, not claiming things are black and white? Nah, just claiming asymmetry is always better than symmetry. Symmetry may be easier, that still doesn't mean it is worse, if done well it can be more aesthetic than a badly done asymmetry, which actually applies the other way as well, it's all a matter of context which you seem to be keen on neglecting. That you've been doing art in the past doesn't really excuse the narrow-minded thinking or miscomprehension of english text you are displaying right now.

And I'd be glad if you wouldn't twist my words in the future. Thank you.

Sorry Swallow, I'm stopping now. So when is ETA on the ship btw?

RE: Civilian carrier. WIP - nOmnomnOm - 05-17-2016

I have not claimed it is always better. Rules are made to be broken ofc.
You can stop twisting my words, thanks.

As for me twisting your words? No. I have not.
Edit: Sorry swallow.
Will add my sketch in a bit ^^ for just an idea

RE: Civilian carrier. WIP - Swallow - 05-17-2016

I am currently chopping the nose of it.

RE: Civilian carrier. WIP - Thyrzul - 05-17-2016

Did we really argue so much about how it should be done that in the end you decided it shouldn't be done at all? Big Grin

Came to the conclusion after a quick sketch that the side thing isnt good for this model
But the chop thing could work i think. Smile

RE: Civilian carrier. WIP - Swallow - 05-17-2016

Good, but I went my own way though.
