The Newport Station Inspection | {AFC}- & Samura|- - The Archangels Fighter Club - 04-08-2016

The wreck of Yanagi Base, repressurised by a gang of Freelancers looking to build a quiet refuge for themselves.
When knowledge of the base's re-opening spreads, it is likely that the station will once again attract a wide variety of entrepeneurial characters.

Previous thread...

Sunny stepped out of his ship and stretch a little from sitting in his seat for so long. He looked around to spot where the scientist/engineer crew of the Samura ship were coming in from. The last he had seen was the large Bustard-class construction platform mooring next to the station and connecting to the station's interlocking bridge for crew boarding. The base would be able to hold together with this type of work, but Sunny worried a bit to himself of how much stress the whole construction at the moment could withstand. Creeks were at the moment not a rare thing to hear from the underlying construction of the station and he hoped they had re-enforced it enough.

He soon spotted the evident group of scientists fitted with site construction uniforms and even space suites as they were walking in a group towards the main docks where Sunny was. He started to walk towards them and soon caught their attention.

"Hello! Welcome, welcome.... " He says as he got to them and offers to shake hands. In the back of his mind he is already starting to get nervous a little about the inspection.
Whatever the case, there wont be no base without professional help.

"Welcome to Newport. I trust you all had smooth ride... er... journey here?" He says, trying to talk professional but slipping some of the AFC slag.

RE: The Newport Station Inspection | {AFC}- & Samura|- - Samura Heavy Industries - 04-28-2016

*As the captain Hiroto Matsuyama slowly moored his ship to Newport, the inspection and renovation team, lead by Hayato Ichihara, made final preparations to offload their equipment and begin with assessing station's condition.*

*As the team was packing Hayato made a short speech to his man to rise the spirit.*

"Okay people this is the situation. The good people from AFC have requested our help with putting this station to working condition again. You know me, I am not known by failures and I do not accept failures. We will work together on this project as long as it lasts. You have all worked jobs like this before so this should not be any harder then that. Anyway, enough of talk, finish up with the equipment and ready at the ramp."

*The ship finally moored and lowered its ramp. Hayato followed by his team members disembarked and offloaded equipment in the hangar off the ship's starboard. While he was instructing his man at what should go where he noticed a group of man approaching lead by the familiar face. It was the AFC lead, the Sunny. Hayato made a few steps, approached them and made a slight tradition Kusari bow to their host.*

"Konnichiwa Sunny-san. It is a great pleasure to finally meet you."

Sunny tried to copy the traditional bow back as best he could to show respect.
"I'm happy you and your team are able to help us. Thank you for coming." He smiled.
"The station is holding up ... at least here... I'd offer you a drink but the bar isn't... in the best working order at the moment. It is holding it'self up though. Perhaps if you are interested I could send for some drinks." He chuckles.

"Anyway... I guess ... you would like to know ... or... you would like to be shown around? I'll be happy to give you a quick tour around the station... though yeah... it is not the best construction and there are some creeks and odd sounds at the places that not renovated as much..."

He tried to keep his composure as best as he could but still be truthful as to how it really is on the base. They needed all the professional help they could get, and these guys, to Sunny, looked to be what he desperately needed.

Among the samura engineering crew, all dressed in the standard keiretsu working overalls, was one that carried just a digital pad, and looked towards the captain and the hosts. His face revealed in no subtle tones how displeased he was there, being so out of his previous field of work.

Wakame somehow had managed to escape from Tomioka after his farmer friends had told him that the area would become blocked by outrageous numbers of Blood Dragon patrols. His branch administration had left him on his "vacation" in Tomioka to take the blame for the results of certain transactions with the Farmers alliance. With a small struck of luck, he managed to get admitted into one of the evacuation missions of the KNF, and was flown back to New Tokyo. Obviously, his boss was not pleased to see him back so soon.

Wakame was relocated to the construction department, and came to Newport as a financial staff, charged with accounting the costs of the works. The captain was not the kind to be influenced by his schemes due to his position and seniority, so he was only a powerless pawn in the middle of that situation... as he always has been.
Although he didn't believe that.

RE: The Newport Station Inspection | {AFC}- & Samura|- - Samura Heavy Industries - 05-16-2016

*Hiroto Matsuyama was pleased with the welcome at Newport considering the conditions the station was in.*

"We are grateful to have finally arrived here. This is a new experience for all of us at Samura, restoring a frontier station back to full operational condition. With that in mind, thank you for the drink offer but I would like to appoint my team members to their fields to ascertain the conditions of each section and system of the station."

*Hiroto turned back to heads of divisions to point them to the right directions.*

"Okay people, this is how we do it: electronic team to critical systems, and IT to command bridge, mechanical engineers to machine shop, weapon technicians to tactical center... ah you know the drill. Check the situation, top to bottom. RV in conference room, I hope it is operational otherwise we will find a place. Long day is ahead of. Work fast. Go."

*After addressing his team Hiroto face back to Sunny.*

"Now that we handled the initial stuff lets head to that station look around tour. We can even check up upon teams working their stuff."

RE: The Newport Station Inspection | {AFC}- & Samura|- - nOmnomnOm - 05-17-2016

Sunny watched him organised his team and then nodded back as he finished.
"Very well... Sounds like a plan, then. Like I said as well, the stations just holding together and..."

'eeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrkkk....' A loud noise echoes through the station.

"... yeah... that happens from time to time." Sunny says and looks around a bit. "Must have come from the upper part of the station. We have been having some sorts of issues there. Anyway... if you will follow me..."

He starts walking and leading them down the hangar of the station. "So as you can see this is a basic station layout... nothing special down here in the hangar and pretty open concept. Open space means the structure around needs to be secure... and he have done as best as we could with that...

'Eeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrk....'

"The cargo storage and loading bay is over there on that end... and the equipment storage is on the other end. We use robotics mainly to assemble guns and other things when needed. Those come off the wall there... standard stuff... you can see the arms of that robotic mechanism there..." He points to the side.

"I apologies as well that the elevator isn't operational yet, though that would be not good either way since we are still constructing. At the moment the shafts are in place and some workers are running cables and hydraulics... we'll be using one of the core stairs... On the lower part would be where the bar is and where the residential suites would be. We didn't have -much- trouble there... well besides one incident... erm... " he waves it off for now, "But it's more.... the top portion is..."

'EeeeeeeeeIIIIIIk' .... 'Boom'.... (echo)'

"... is incomplete and... fragile... The generator as well as the shield are running low at the moment... sometimes a rock or two hits the base... That is probably what that was. Up there would be the communication room, docking and control tower, and other supporting stuff relying on all the tech and gear. We are behind on that mostly."

RE: The Newport Station Inspection | {AFC}- & Samura|- - Samura Heavy Industries - 05-21-2016

*Hiroto walked beside Sunny and listening to him describing station's condition.*

"Sunny-san, from what I hear from you as well as from the station this will not be an easy task. You have mentioned some critical systems in dire need of replacement."

*He glanced around the storage bay and then back at Sunny.*

"Major overhaul of multiple interior system, station hull and other... Good thing we have brought more then enough materials on our ship. As for the incidents in the place such as this, I guess it is not hard for personnel to get in harms way."

*As they continued walking around thestation, Hiroto spoke:*

"While we are at it, lets check out the rest of the station and see what to do from there on."

RE: The Newport Station Inspection | {AFC}- & Samura|- - nOmnomnOm - 05-26-2016

As Sunny is taking them now up the stairs into the other rooms, he continues to talk.

"Yes... I had realized it was a bit much for some time now. I had tried to contact others but failed... so it is good to have someone specialized now," he turns back and smiles a bit and then continues.

"On your left there... that is the door to the main generators that run the station. To not over-work the system we have it now running at a low setting... I can take you inside actually. Follow me."

BBbbbbbbbrrrrrrrrrr **generator noises**

"Ah you can see...!" He says in a louder voice and talks over the noise. "She ain't the prettiest at the moment... but she works... Basically it's a central core here we are in now... and these cables travel up and down through the whole station here... On our right is the core power plant... and if you follow me...."

He takes them up a ladder to the higher levels of the generator room.

"These here are the converters.... and we have of course a careful watch on these at all times... Fortunately for us there was no major issues, but perhaps you would like to take a closer look at them." He suggests.

RE: The Newport Station Inspection | {AFC}- & Samura|- - Samura Heavy Industries - 05-29-2016

*Hiroto nodded to Sunny.*

"Yes, it is good that we have come here. This endeavour will benefit us all. We are eager to work on the frontier and gather next experiences to take back home to Kusari while on the other hand you will get a fully functional and operational station."

*As they entered the new compartment Hiroto pointed to the generators.*

"Ah yes, here they are. *huh* They have seen better days. You were right to not over-work them. Would not want to cause a core meltdown. Well, we could either fix them up the best we can, put up new carbon based isolation on the core but bear in mind that the core it self is old. I would recommend installing a new one."

*Looking up and down the conduits where the cables run, he made a note:*

"I would also switch to carbon-polymer encased wires. We make those in Samura and multiple studies have shown that they do not melt down even under the extreme stresses."

*When they got to the power converter Hiroto looked around and pointed out:*

"Around the clock watch on this converters is indeed necessary. I mean fortune looked down on you kindly so far but you never know when you might run out of luck. Added them to the list of things to fix or change is a priority."

RE: The Newport Station Inspection | {AFC}- & Samura|- - nOmnomnOm - 06-02-2016

"I'd rather have new replacements installed than to just repair what is here." Sunny smiled back and nodded at what Hiroto said. "I see it the same as an engine. If it's too old and used up then best to have it replaced. I don't want to be worried about it always..."

**Eerrrrrrkk**

Sunny looked around from where the noise was coming from but then nodded back.

"Shall we continue, then?"

He takes them further up the levels up the base and growing in volume are machines and men's shouts. As they get near they can see hired construction workers working on the base and plating the internal hull-plate structure. Not all is finished and there are wires, pipes, vents and other things sticking out in places as they are not fully covered yet.

"As you can see, we've got all the tools and machines to put it all together... it's just somethings might get over-looked and we need a specialist. this here would be part of the command tower and other utility rooms as well as the electronics and a server room to go.... so there are a bunch of wires that have been pulled behind these walls. Kind of a web around here... though perhaps it's fine." Sunny explains.

They were now in the highest part that they can go and above this would the closed as only the framework of the base would be above.
