He taps the audio input to make sure it's working, and the sound thumps a bit.

"Okay.. alright, sounds like it's working.."

"Bonjour.. er, why the hell... Nevermind.. not like anyone's going to hear this but me.. Only reason I'm making this log in the first place is so I can recount these days when I'm some senile old man. The days that I left Gallia, and that damned 'Roi' behind..."

"Sirius, at least I still hope I'm getting that right, so far isn't turning out to be such a bad place.. the space is open, the people seem.. fairly relaxed.. and the views are simply gorgeous. The House of Kusari in particular struck out the most. This 'Crow Nebula' certainly seems to be more than just a sight to look at. According to the locals, it's also a large basket of Hydrogen and Helium that can be refined in the Sirius equivalent of Oil: Helium-3."

"I haven't spent much time in Kusari, though. These 'Edge Worlds' and the 'Independent Systems' have been where I've been spending the majority of my time. I've actually joined up with a form of independent army called 'Battlegroup Auck-esshia'. I'm still trying to get the name down, as it seems to be more Nordic than Gaullian, but I'm certain I'll have it down soon enough."

He takes a deep breath, audible through the input.

"I took a trip to the 'Eidolon Wraith', where I met this fascinating woman, Amanda Kensington. She'd been terribly beaten up in a bar brawl on Barrier Gate, and her 'Bottlenose' took an even bigger hit. The way she looked, I was surprised she even made it aboard, let alone face down in the hallway where I found her. I escorted her to medical, which.. I couldn't find at first because I didn't know my way around.."

"She had dislocated her shoulder in the fight and had taken glass to her back. A dozen shards embedded in her. It was.. uncomforting to see such a sight.. I helped her along to the med-bay, where I helped her relocate her shoulder and then pulled the shards from her back. It's not exactly easy pulling things out of people, and even less so when it's a grueling as this was.. I got the shards out eventually, and treated her to a bit of lunch. We ate, and afterwards, she took me to her Bottlenose, where she served us both a drink she'd promised. A 'Brash Bomb'. I'm not one for alcohol, but.. it was really good."

"I'd.. honestly hate to say it if I could.. but I think she's growing on me. Her friendliness as apposed to some of the other people I've met out here, as well as some of the other people in the Battlegroup, really inspires a sense of.. hope. I do wonder where this will lead.. I'm.. curious to say the least."

He takes a moment to think, his breathing indicating erraticness.

"Log One.. Fresnel out."

He swipes a few programs closed, clearing his systems for his log.

"Another log, for another set of events. Honestly, these things are becoming too much of an afterthought for me. I never seem to remember to do them, even when things worth noting are sitting around me like family at Christmas dinner."

"The past few weeks have been somewhat entertaining. Some parts were even so spectacularly incredible that I think I almost seized up. Maybe I'm getting too dramatic here, but I'm honesty certain I've found my new home out here."

He takes a deep breath, and from the shuffling, it was clear he was either excited or at the least restless.

"In my last log, I explained that I had met a spectacular woman named Amanda. While.. how she entered my life was less than stellar, it's how she's effected me afterwards that gets me. She's just so.. lively.. I can't really put it any other way, but the way she acts.. it just makes me think that my quiet, lonesome demeanor can be helped in almost every way by her. Not to mention that drink.. 'Brash Bomb'.. It's surprisingly good, for my notable lack of drinking history."

"We took a trip out to the system of 'Sigma-59' not long ago. Cieux, it was magnificent. The fascinating view. The colorful, dark atmosphere. I thought it was marvelous, and mademoiselle Amanda enjoyed it as well.. She wanted to speak privately once we got back to Inverness, so perhaps there I can get my first look at this necklace she's made herself."

He chuckles lightly, the subject making him somewhat giddy.

"She.. found a wreck not far from Invergordon.. gold and diamond shipment, and a few other things.. covered herself with soot and ash smelting it all down to make herself this.. beautiful golden diamond necklace. I thought it was adorable.. and I was.. honestly somewhat proud of her.. Smelting isn't easy, and I know it can sometimes be worth less than the reward, but she nailed it."

"I'll be honest here.. honest with myself, as this is a closed comm.. I really do think I'm.. falling for her.. As much as it is cliche for things like this to happen, I've hit the point where all I can clearly think of is her. Cieux, I sound like one of those stereotype screen actors. I'd log something else down, but nothing else honestly happened, and I can't seem to get her out of my head. I wonder what she could want to speak about. While the story books would say that she wants to talk about us, I'm certain there's other things on her mind."

"I'm more than willing to listen to it all."

"Log Two.. Fresnel out."

He takes a brief sigh, and a clicking noise is heard.

"Still can't get past that.. such craftsmanship.. amateur of course, but it's never the product that matters. It's the thought.."

"Well.. this log will be somewhat more memorable than the last two. I haven't been updating them as often as I probably should, but the facts are still there. Amanda certainly did want to talk, and talk we did.. among other things. The first certainly wasn't the last, and in all honesty, she tastes like a smokehouse. Not a.. smokerhouse. One of those stereotyped 'western' places with the sweet sauce. Cieux, and she is sweet.. Like candy, and almost devilishly so.."

"I knew there was something. The moment her lips met mine, every confirmatory bell in my head went off like the horns at the Roi's Chateaux. This woman, the mademoiselle I had so cherished the presence of since we met, was now something more. She wasn't just a wingmate, or a comrade in arms. Not just a friend. She was far more than that. She was mon amour, and that.. honestly is a damnably hard thing to be.."

"I probably shouldn't make all my logs solely about Amanda. As much as I adore and admire her, she is but a part of the larger force of my life."

He takes a sigh, and shuffling is heard as he probably readjusts himself in his seat.

"I'm a Templar now. My work alongside Mademoiselle Wexler and Monsieurs Hunt and Spiteri helped to solidify that in the Curator's eye, and I'm just glad they see the potential. Amanda was certainly proud of me- Cieux, there I go again.. She's in every aspect of my life, no matter when I try to omit her. She's like a.. beautiful, determined stalker who tastes like barbeque sauce.. and is just as sweet.."

He sighs again.

"I've no doubt I've fallen for her. In fact, I don't know why I don't just flick the switch in this thing and invite her aboard. It's roomy, cozy.. I've got my own couch, and it's less beaten up than the Redshift. May not have the same history length, but she's quite the survivor."

"There was an auction aboard Barrier Gate about a week ago. Some older monsieur selling his faithful 'Montante', a gunboat with quite the array of marks and memories. I took it off his hands, and gave it a new name. 'Lafayette'. At least here in the name I can keep something from my days on New Paris."

"I do miss those old days. The light glinting from the water of the seas. The people. Perhaps once this foolish debacle is done, Amanda and I can go visit. She's already told that she'd love to see Versailles. While it may just be a place in orbit the Capital, it's still quite the sight, for what I saw of it. I wonder if Richard and Elisa are still there. Their kid, Killian I think, must be growing up well."

"This should do for another log. I'll need to remember to explore a bit. I've yet to see everything, and the born astronomer in me is giddy to see it all."

"Log Three.. Fresnel out."
