Can you build your own ships? - Mr Muppet - 09-24-2016
Hi
I was looking through player bases and saw that they were all sorts of types like trading hubs, mining etc. Just wondering if you can build your shipyard and build your own ships which you can then sell?

You can't, but there is another thing you can do. Build your own unique ship. It's almost an impossibly hard task and you need the following things:
1.) you need to have at least 12 months of established roleplay, both in-game and in the forums, with the same character (pilot) that will be flying the ship;
2.) the story needs to be REALLY GOOD, not contradicting the Discovery Storyline in any way or form;
3.) at least one official faction needs to be involved in the construction of the ship and the submission request needs to be made by that faction;
4.) you need to make the ship model (or have a friend make it), texture it, export it into the game's CMP format, hitbox it, hardpoint it, test it and submit it for the mod developers to evaluate;
5.) then, after everything thus far is done, it needs to pass the vote of both developers and administrators to get it approved.
Examples:
Obsidian (Bomber)
Necrosis (Battlecruiser)
Tundra (Infested Cruiser)
Persephone (Advanced Battleship)
... and others.

Oh i see because i saw someone selling ships and it said he owned a shipyard and stuff?

Ah, that's a different thing - its a "roleplay" shipyard.
It doesent exist.
He is just selling his ships in the forums!

Ship sale threads are also called shipyards sometimes, but the ship market section is ooRP.
