Admin Notice: 3.6 Amendment - sindroms - 01-11-2017

Good day.
This is a very minor change. The wording of the rule as well as the examples were covered as a collapsible under the Rules Clarification thread, but we know that many players would not even bother to check that particular extension of the rules section. Even more so, it seems as though for some reason many of our members seem to forgotten that it exists as well.

As such, the new 3.6 reads as follows:

3.6 Attacking without Roleplay. Players must be given reasonable time to react to hostilities.

Awsome rule, i already use a time of around 30seconds. some just are slow typers Smile but it is good there is a limit now for those impatient ones ^_^

RE: Admin Notice: 3.6 Amendment - Inferno - 01-11-2017

There is around a minute from first contact to shooting most times. For nomad/wild players I give alot more as I know people like the old nomspeak and its complexity.
I for one approve this update. No more 'Halt, fine, die!' in 15 seconds moments.

What is a reasonable amount of time? What is a reasonable amount of time while a trader is running away? Are they the same?

RE: Admin Notice: 3.6 Amendment - jim-drover - 01-11-2017

If a trader has the time to shift+w he has the time to stop and type its as simple as that Smile

RE: Admin Notice: 3.6 Amendment - sasapinjic - 01-11-2017

Reasonable amount of time depends on case to case .
You as pirate stop trader and ask for money :
- he don't stop and try to flee without response engaging cruise and thrusters , so you can attack him after warning shot ,
- trader stops completely but silent , wait for him to respond a minute or two , maybe he slow typer or has problems ,
- you cough trader outside of trade-lines , you CD him but he continue in same direction at standard no cruise , no thruster speed , he is probably in forum , doing background trading , wait for him couple of minutes to come back .
You see RP enemy and you want to kill :
- enemy was in motion , so type attack RP and wait for response from him , or if no response for minute or two you can attack .
- enemy was in mission against NPC , probably damaged , wait for him to finish mission and repair ,
- enemy is just dead in space , RP messages and wait coupe of minutes , he is probably in forum .

Nothing with "no more" bc nothing changed here to the original wording of the rule. It's the same as before. The change is that there're now links to the rule-clarification thread.

Anything that leaves enough time to respond given the situation, usually something around 30seconds. Even slow typers can start with a short sentence to make the other aware that he's/she's responding. Everything more is up to you.
//Edit: From the rules-clarification thread:
Quote:- Ideally at least 2 sentences of RP before engaging, with a minimum of 10 seconds before firing from your first RP message. Just RP, and make sure the opposing person has enough time to respond
If you manage to pump out two full lines of context, you're free to shoot within 10seconds after the first hit local/sys.

If it runs, it gets shot. You might want to mention it towards the trader though that he has to stop moving. Doesn't count as demand.
Quote:4.2 Demands should be reasonable and only one monetary or cargo demand can be issued during each piracy interaction.

Except when you're a smuggler and you get caught by a lawful that demands that you both drop the cargo and pay a fine. THE ULTIMATE PIRACY!

Drop cargo, pay fine, leave system. 3 for the price of 1.

Don't forget a FR5.
