Black Flag Corsairs.

History of the Corsairs.

The ancestors of the Corsairs that had set adrift from the crippled sleeper ship Hispania made planetfall on Crete shortly after the other Houses arrived in the Sirius Sector.
Scratching out a living, the Corsairs managed a bleak existence for four centuries and over time they developed a strong self-identity, isolated from the rest of the Houses. In 450 A.S. that insular world changed. An exploratory expedition headed by Franz Schulman -- financed by Daumann and the Rhienland government -- stumbled into the system while mapping the far reaches of the Walker Nebula. The local inhabitants, sensing a historic opportunity, attacked the landing party en masse, killing all save Schulman whom they took hostage to gain control of the mother ship "Schiller" in orbit above the planet.
No one is entirely sure who first nicknamed them the "Corsairs", recalling the ancient pirate clans of the Mediterranean, but the name came into popular use among the Houses sometime around 500 A.S. The Corsairs began attacking unprotected outposts and ships, plundering whatever supplies and equipment they could lay their hands on, before escaping through one of their secret Jump Holes. The systematic expansion of the Houses into the Omega Border Worlds further fueled the Corsair movement, dramatically increasing the quantity and variety of accessible goods.
The final chapter began in the sixth century AS, when an enterprising, well-armed Liberty freelancer named Jim Brown made his way to Omicron Gamma. He brought various Consumer Goods to trade, but the Corsairs could offer little but Artifacts. A year later he returned. Those trinkets were all the rage with the elite of Manhattan. He saw a great business opportunity if they could set up a viable trade route to Liberty. The Corsairs were on their way. They grew rapidly in size and sophistication as they built up the Artifact trade.
The primary smuggling route goes north to Sigma-19, where Artifacts are traded with the Hogosha onboard the Hawaii. In the west the Corsairs invaded Bretonia in order to reach the Junker Trafalgar Base in New London. They also operated routes into Rheinland via Yanagi Depot, a former Junker base in Sigma-13. Liberty is still a target of their smuggling operations, and much of this trade is handled by the Junkers and various intermediaries.
The Bounty Hunters Guild has taken advantage of several Freeports in the Edge Worlds to attack the Corsairs’ home system. So far they’ve been more of a nuisance than a real threat, but the presence of Zoner-controlled bases so close to Omicron Gamma has provoked intense debate among the Elders of Crete regarding the future of nearby independent bases.

Black Flag Corsairs.

We come from our Portuguese ancestors that were on board the Hispania sleeper ship and will continue our Portuguese ways. The Black Flag Corsairs started off as a small smuggling company and soon started to extort both money and goods from those who do not support them otherwise. After some time smuggling Artifacts and other illegal commodities into House space, they gained enough wealth to start building up their military might to combat any intruders to the Corsair Space that they have claimed. The Black Flag Corsair’s main goal is to increase their military power and gain a larger influence in the politics of the Corsair Empire.

To achieve their goals the Black Flag Corsairs fund their ongoing operations by artifact smuggling into Liberty, Bretonian, Kusarian and partially Rheinland house space. With the Discovery of Xeno Relics, the Black Flag Corsairs plan to increase their Artifact market even further, gaining them a larger source of income to build up their fleet, but also, to build up infrastructure on Planet Crete, with the main focus being schools, universities and military academies, to school the future Corsair generation for more success in politics and warfare. Currently the Black Flag Corsairs keep up their training in battlegroup combat as well as single combat in all classes of combat ships, delivering Artifacts and Xeno Relics to their clients while bringing anything of value back home with them.

Goals

Short term goals:
-Gain money and resources to fund our operations.
-Get more established within Corsair society, both as a military and a political party.
-Provide aid to our allies.
-Improve our relationship with the allies and supporters of the Corsair Empire.

Long term goals:
-Improve the quality of life on Planet Crete.
-Enable the Corsair Empire to support a larger population.
-Get rid of various outdated and cruel cultural rituals and traditions.
-Ensure a steady stream of supplies to the Corsair shipyards.
-Expand the Empire into weaker house space.
-Expand their control into the deeper Omicrons and Omegas.
-Get one or more seats in the Elder's Council.

Base of Operations

The Black Flag Corsairs mainly operate out of Planet Crete and the other bases surrounding Planet Crete. Secondary bases are Cadiz Base within the Omega systems for ease of access to Bretonian and the Omegas. As well as Battleship Barcelona and Petra outpost for ease of access to the Sigmas, Rheinland and Kusari systems.

Departments

Military

The Black Flag Corsairs fleet is a medium force so far, as more credits come in the bigger the fleet will get.
Our military mainly operates within all Corsair space, when we have reason to we will operate outside of Corsair space and move into the House Space to terrorize the military or to extort both money and goods from those who do not support us. As well as running reconnaissance
parties into house space to scope out potential targets.

Politics

We are planning to school our Corsair people into politics to help our cause and to help out Corsair lives on Planet crete. This is only a start and more information will come as we progress.

Smuggling Ring

Our smuggling ring consists of Artifact and Xeno Relics trade into Liberty, Kusari, Bretonia, Rheinland House Space whilst bringing essential things back to Corsair space which we need and can put to good use. While running smuggling routes we will typically have heavy transports with an escort to protect the artifacts and transport ships. The smuggling ring mainly operates out of Thira Colony in Omicron Xi as a middle ground for both trades.

RE: The Black Flag Corsairs, BFC| - Connor - 10-20-2020

Has anyone got any feedback for this faction?

RE: The Black Flag Corsairs, BFC| - darkwind - 10-20-2020

I remember them harassing some pobs. And that's the only thing I remember about them.

RE: The Black Flag Corsairs, BFC| - Groshyr - 10-20-2020

Many sanctions for baiting outside zoi - that's what I remember

RE: The Black Flag Corsairs, BFC| - Darkstar_Spectre - 10-20-2020

It has traitorscoba in it worst faction Big Grin

RE: The Black Flag Corsairs, BFC| - Goliath - 10-20-2020

They are somewhat active, I'll give them that. Leaving the sanctions aside, they are pretty decent folks. Good RP experiences so far.

RE: The Black Flag Corsairs, BFC| - mm33dd - 10-20-2020

Nice Sair faction, I flew with'em in some raids in Bretonia and Rheinland and in the Sigma event. Thumbs up! Cool
The only reason I didn't post an application to join is cause the I don't like the faction background too much, I don't feel that "Portuguese".

RE: The Black Flag Corsairs, BFC| - Couden - 10-20-2020

Good faction and got good pews with and against them

RE: The Black Flag Corsairs, BFC| - Oprixy - 10-20-2020

Great people, fly with them on a couple of raids and during the sigma event, very friendly. Fairly active, RPed with them on a junker couple of times.

RE: The Black Flag Corsairs, BFC| - Dhomie42 - 10-20-2020

Other than their disgusting behaviour during the Sigma-17 Showdown event ( for which they even got sanctioned for: [-X-] [-X-] ), getting banned from their Discord Server after asking why this happened, and baiting hostiles to engage them outside of their ZoI no, not really.
