The Parasite, The Scourge, the ones who extinguished Leeds and are ravaging Gaia. Leave not one crewmember breathing. Show them the pain they caused to Leeds and Gaia.

Synth Foods:
Synth Foods plants poison the ecosystems they touch making the earth barren and sterile, only capable of growing the gray sludge they try to pass off as food. They are just as detrimental to Nature as any Planetform Terraforming operation.

PlanetForm:
One of the Longest running enemies of the Gaians, we may be different then those who came before but we haven't forgotten our roots.

The Corsairs:
Our Traitorous Allies, they sided with the Gallic Scourge even when they crushed us under their boot heel and perverted the planets and space they touch. Make it clear they are no longer welcome in Bretonia.

While once we had considered a possibility of working with the Corsair Brotherhood after an internal debate it was determined that they, like all Cretans, are guilty of aiding and abetting the Gallic Enclave in its war against Bretonia and its subsequent desecration of both Leeds and Planet Gaia.

A longstanding and well respected organization within Cretan Society, once considered one of The Gaians closest allies. Tensions post war have lead to us having a less then favorable opinion of most Cretans. The Brotherhood has expressed sympathies and a notable interest in fixing the very soured relations. While still open to debate if Gaian/Crete relations will ever return to pre-Gallic Alliance levels of friendliness. If nothing else, they make great cover in fights against The Enclave.

The people of Malta descended from the lost sleeper ships Hispania, while we may not approve of the export of their drug Cardamine and would rather see it kept on its home world we cannot deny that it's use has spread through the society of Bretonia. Perhaps there is some safe medicinal use for it, that remains to be seen. While some in their hierarchy seem interested in strengthening ties do not expect all aspects of Outcast Society to follow suit right away. Their true motives remain to be seen.

Their drug poisons the Human body as much as they poison the space they occupy, that being said, they rarely enter Bretonia except when combating The Enclave or The Corsairs.

The Coalition:
Often seen cooperating with the Mollys, they have the potential to be better friends if only they stopped believing the processed lies being fed to them by the drunks in Dublin.


The Red Hessians:
The Mollys of Rheinland with a blood thirsty lust for expansion. They claim to be fighting for a revolution in Rheinland. Why does that bring them to Cambridge? We don’t know, show them the way out either in an escape pod or through the nearest jumphole.

Crayter Republic:
Our first encounter proved they are just as complacent as the rest of Sirius. They seem disinterested in our movements want to move the stagnant masses. No evidence has yet come to light that they exploit nature not as needed but for nothing more then ruthless profits. Make it clear they are not welcome in our space.

Name Origins

As I have been thinking many people may have assumed we chose Nemesis simply to be edgy, or dark and brooding I decided to explain the origins of the name and why I thought of it.

This over-ambitious project eventually proved to be the company’s nemesis.

While those stand true as we seek to be a Nemesis to OS&C/PlanetForm/Synth. We must also look towards the deeper Origins of "Nemesis" Specifically to the Greek Titan of the same name.

Nemesis

Nemesis was the goddess of divine retribution and revenge, who would show her wrath to any human being that would commit hubris, i.e. arrogance before the gods. She was considered a remorseless goddess.

Nemesis was widely used in the Greek tragedies and various other literary works, being the deity that would give what was due to the protagonist. She was often called "Goddess of Rhamnous", an isolated place in Attica, where a temple was attributed to her. It was believed that she was the daughter of the primordial god Oceanus. According to Hesiod, though, she was a child of Erebus and Nyx.

One myth concerning Nemesis is that of Narcissus. He was a young man who was very arrogant and disdained those who loved him. Nemesis led him to a pool, where he saw his reflection and fell in love with it. Unable to abandon his reflection, he died there. According to another myth, Nemesis created an egg, from which two sets of twins hatched; one set was Helen of Troy and Clytemnestra, and the other was the Dioscuri.

While this shines more light onto my choice of the name Nemesis, there is still just a small bit more. As most people know the Heritage of the Greek Gods is a jumbled mess of Zeus sleeping with everything in sight and then some. While many different origin stories exist for the Greek Pantheon, some that I found suggested Nemesis to either be a direct child of Gaia or grandchild via the parent Nyx.

Anyone who has met us in game should be able to tell that a very common theme in our message is "Vengeance" bringing Nature's Wrath to those who abuse nature.

Sure, are some of my choices a stretch? Maybe, but personally I put a sizable amount of thought into this. Maybe it's just me that is worried that people are assuming that we chose Nemesis to be edgy.

Regardless, I hope I at least gave some level of insight into the train of thought that lead to this factions creation.

The Gaian Nemesis ID

The Gaian Nemesis is a radicalized off shoot of the Gaian movement in Bretonia. While traditionally the Gaians took a more passive roll, Nemesis has taken a particular liking to assaulting civilians and causing general civil unrest. Within Zone of Influence (Bretonia, systems directly bordering Bretonia, Taus, California, Inverness, Vespucci):

- Can attack Combat Ships.

- Can engage in piracy.
