Any Battlefield / WWII game fans here ? - LuckyOne - 10-29-2021
I realize this might be a bit of a stretch on an arcade sci-fi shooter forum, but it's about a mod of a game that originally started in about the same era as Freelancer, so I figured why the hell not.
Anyway, before I migrated to this forum I used to hang around at the old Battlefield 2 modding community forums related to the Forgotten Hope 2 mod.
The folks there have been developing their mod for almost as long as Disco's devs have been hacking away at Freelancer, and this weekend there's a special event planned in memory of some of the finest devs they have had the honor of working with, that have recently passed away.
The best part of this mod, apart from the amazing historical accuracy, continued support and the insane amount of love and work put into it is that it's completely free and you can run it on an absolute potato of a PC. And the fact that the playerbase (EU timezone, at least) is still going strong and can fill a 100 player server every weekend. A 100 player Battlefield experience is something that EA has only recently started marketing with Battlefield 2042 (!)
So if you are up for a few quick rounds (for example while you wait for your Disco PVP timer to run out, a round is usually over in about 30ish minutes
) feel free to download, hop on and blow off some steam tomorrow! P.S. It is rumored the French maps are finally coming with the next release, so for all of you baguette lovers, there's going to be a good chance to replay actual history in the future

That looks pretty good I might check it out. I tried the Remaster of BF1942 for the last while (but I haven't been on the multiplayer), and it did have a decent amount of players still at it last time I checked. That was my WWII go-to for years, and the old Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. I played my fair share of the Battlefield/Call of Duty games but I haven't owned a console over a decade. After years of those games I migrated to mostly just the WWII flight simulator instead.
