House Corporations, House Unlawfuls and Border Worlds - TheSauron - 10-11-2023

I've had the topic of Corporate ZoIs brought up in a discussion earlier today, and I got curious about the general community sentiment.

As it stands right now, House Corporations' ZoIs are typically confined to their own House + 1, with some individual systems sprinkled here and there. Same goes for House Unlawfuls, though they usually have it a bit better, with most having at least one Border Worlds region attached to their ZoI. I feel like it is a little bit restrictive and prevents House IDs from penetrating deeper into the Border Worlds, which is something that I believe they should be allowed to do. This also goes hand-in-hand with my belief that Corporate IDs should be allowed to let loose/turn borderline unlawful outside of House Space to better enable them to act out their bad guy side.

All that said, this thread is meant to pose the following questions:

Should House Corporations and House Unlawfuls be allowed to operate in all neighbouring Border Worlds? As an example, in case of Bretonia, this would mean that Bowex, Gateway, BMM, Planetform, Gaians and Mollys would all receive both Taus and Omegas within their ZoI.

How would people feel about extending Corporate ID lines to enable them to engage combat ships and pirate transports largely indiscriminately outside House Space? This would obviously have some restrictions so as to not have Bowex pirating RM or something silly like that, rather just non-allied corporates and pirate/freelance merchants. Yes, I am aware most Corporate IDs are already able to pirate their specific competition, but I feel like that is way too niche, and also implemented as a very silly Sirius-wide piracy line. Why would Kruger be pirating BMM in the Taus?

Either way, these are the two questions, plus the poll above. Thanks for your time.

Post is as a player not Admin.

1) Let corporate transports ply their commercial trade anywhere.
2) Transports can shoot in self-defence anywhere. Other ship types only if escorting a transport outside of home system.
3) Pirate competitors, maybe limit to freighters, as a corporate sabotage thing. I do not think it sensible to have corps flying around with empty transports hunting things. They are corporate shippers, maximising their stock.

4)) All corporate ID'd transport ships should be identifiable by name, for example Tunicle-ALG. IDF-Tunicle etc. Would any corporation go without advertising who they are? Plus it will increase interactions. You want 5K to powertrade then fess up. You want to be hidden, use FL ID.

Not really put any RP justifications here as we know you can RP justify most things.

As an avid Freelancer by heart I have an issue with this. Having your corp name in the ship's name is not enough of a tradeoff for being able to haul 5k everywhere. Being a freelancer doesn't really matter, if you meet pirate they'll scan you and pirate you. Doesn't matter whou you are, you're transport, you're getting pirated. I'm not against expanding the ZOI per se, but allowing all corps to fly they'r 5k everywhere and the only downside being a marked name... yeah, 5k powertraders everywhere. I though the main benefit of the freelancer ID was to be able to trade everywhere, a benefid paid for by the severly reduced cargo amount. Hell, wasn't there a ban for a zoner 5ker for houses, because people powertraded it in since zoner's have ZOI everywhere at one point?

I feel a little confused. Corporations can already fly their 5k transports wherever they please rules-wise. The expansion of their ZoIs would increase their ability to engage in piracy and combat, and a boost to that part of their activities is what my suggestions above are aimed at.

Huh... right, it's the reputations which limit them, not their ZOI - That's something I completely misinterpreted, my bad.
