.
Part I
REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY

.
.
.
Unofficial Faction Timeframe

Your faction will need to have existed for the listed timeframe before being eligible for applying:

.
.
.
One Month

.
.
.
Securing Your Faction Tag

If you're serious about gaining Official Status, it's strongly recommended to lock your tag behind a password:

.
.
.
Read over this chapter of the Server Commands Guide to learn how to do this.

.
.
.
Member Count

As much as Official Status sounds nice, you need the members and activity to achieve it. Need at least:

.
.
.
Three active members / players

.
.
.
Faction Account

It's strongly recommended to have a separate account made just for the Faction.

.
.
.
Create a new account here

.

.
Part II
PREPARE THE APPLICATION

.
.
.
Faction's Infopage

Typically copy / pasted from the infopage you (presumably) already have posted.
If you're struggling to piece one together, make sure to include the following:

.
.
.
  • ID, Tag & IFF Used
  • Faction Origins
  • Goals (Short & Long Term)
  • Ships used & Naming themes, if any
  • Diplomacy & Relations
  • List of Forum Roleplay Links
  • Player Base, if any

.
.
.
Official Faction ID

If you're using an ID that exists or don't need one with custom lines, you can ignore this.
Some Official Factions have requested specific lines, look at the example or this list for ideas.

.
.
.
.
.
.

.
.
Your next stop will be the Official Faction Creation Requests page. Your request will be discussed by other Community Members, but only a Server Administrator can approve or disapprove the Faction creation. If the Faction is not approved, reasons will be posted. If the idea didn't come through the first time, you might still get a chance to improve it and get approved.

To start the process of approval, the Faction needs to provide the Server Administrators with 5,000,000 credits. The amount will only be refunded if the Faction gains Official Status. Once the process starts, the Faction Tag will also be added to the Faction Activity Tracker. The request will remain open for Three months, and the Faction's performance on the Server and Forums will be reviewed during this period. After this period, the status request will undergo a Dev/Admin/Mod vote and the results will be posted in the request thread.

If a Faction fails in their attempt, then there is a 'cool-down' period of one month before they can re-apply.

Part III
WHAT COMES NEXT

.
.
.
If you do get granted official status, there is a handful of extra things you will need to prepare to fully transition into Official status. A bit of administrative work is required to make it all happen. Once the below is all ready to go, submit a request to the Official Faction Requests page using either the Faction's, Faction Leader's or Second-In-Charge's accounts.

.
.
.
Faction Feedback Thread

.
.
.
This is mandatory. Official Factions must have an open feedback thread at all times.

.
.
.
Faction Logo

This image will be displayed alongside the ID you put together in the previous section.
Using THIS background, add your faction's logo to it and have it prepared to send in.
On the left is the background, on the right is the background using the Starfliers' logo as an example.

Submissions should be in 64x64 PNG format.

.
.
.
Official Faction Sub-Forum

A standard for every Official Faction, they are entitled to request a sub-forum to be created.
Within the same request, you can ask to have it laid out a certain way.
They are a little complicated to explain, I'd suggest looking over current Official Factions to see what can be done.

The main elements of the subforums are:

.
.
.

Subforums
  • Creates a nested forum within the main one.
  • Displayed on the very top of the page.
  • Can have a description applied.
  • Can have a 180x180 PNG image applied.
Important Threads
  • Displayed between the subforums and normal threads.
  • Typically used for Recruitment or Information pages.
Normal Threads
  • These are presented like any other thread on the forums.
  • Placed below the important threads, at the bottom.

.
.
.
Tag Tracker

This is automatic, you do not need to do anything extra for this.
The tag tracker adds up all the log time your faction gets.
Why is this important? Well to remain Official, you will need:

.
.
.
Three days of log time across three months.
Activity checks happen every quarter (three months)

.
.
.
Ship Locks

If you have shared ship accounts for your faction, you can request to have those ships locked down.
Post in the Official Faction Requests page to get any requested ships tied down.
There are three different lock levels, each one will go detailed here:

.
.
.

Level 1 Lock
  • No rename, movechar or deletion of the character.
Level 2 Lock
  • Above + No buying/selling ID, Armor & CM/Cloak.
Level 3 Lock
  • Above + No buying/Selling rest of the equipment.

.

.
Part IV
FINALE

.
.
.
After the transition period has concluded, enjoy your time as an Official Faction. You will be held to a higher standard, as your roleplay has carried your faction into a position of recognition. Good luck, have fun and Godspeed Freelancer.
