Tale of a Tyrant - The Liberty Rogues - 07-02-2012 Chapter One: Is it destiny? The price of infamy is a steep one. Men and women do terrible things to get to the top. Some sell their souls, others their families. Moka's story begins in the bar on Alcatraz, a humble thug eager to show his worth to the crime bosses of the formidable Liberty Rogues. Infamy was almost assured here, and Moka quickly found that he need not work too hard to please his masters. The leadership of the Brotherhood was vague, and getting answers was tough. But as Moka worked for his place in the Brotherhood, he began to get noticed. He passed all tests, and began finding new challenges to move himself up the proverbial food chain. Being cannon fodder was not on his agenda and so he applied for the renown Buffalo Wing so he was able to do more for his new family. He was tasked with a nigh on impossible task but he proved that so long they could supply him with ships he would keep throwing himself at his targets until finally a raid on their base of operations allowed Moka to achieve his assignment. After waiting for his promotion and acceptance into the elite wing, the command structure of the Liberty Rogues began to fall apart. No one knows for sure what happened to the Pirate Queen Ashes, but she was quickly replaced by her successor Wolf Blitzer. In his short term as Crimeboss, he promoted Moka to be his right hand man. Moka took the job full on and quickly fixed up the shambles that was resembling any sort of structure in the Liberty Rogues. His first task was hosting a grand party in his Lord Blitzers honour. This proved very popular with the friends and associates of the Liberty Rogues and friendships were mended. Due to unforeseen circumstances, Blitzer soon disappeared with out a trace and a vote was cast on who was to lead the beheaded Liberty Rogues and Moka won, subsequently taking the helm and proclaimed his right as the new Liberty Rogue Warlord. Tale of a Tyrant - The Liberty Rogues - 07-02-2012 Chapter Two: The rise of a tyrant Lord Moka was quick to make his position and intentions clear: monopoly of the Liberty Black Market in Liberty and bringing fear back into the word Rogue. His first task was to bring in profit again to the Rogues coffers. Certain assets were sold, extortion rose sharply and taxes emerged. Before long the handy work of Lord Moka was apparent in the new found confidence in the pilots of the armada of Werewolves, Barghests and the flotillas of smuggling craft. Before long the Liberty Rogues were a common sight on the lanes of California and New York, through to various smuggling destination spots through out the known universe. Before long, his handy work became of notice to other parties in the Republic, notably the wretched Hellfire Legion. The supposed allies the Rogues invested in the Vagrant Raiders laid to crumbs as a strike by the Hellfire Legion into the heart of Rogue territory, Cassini, to their once grand Terre Haute. Negotiations were underway between the Lord Moka and Overlord Blain Spike regarding access to the Rogue shipyard for the Raiders. As the attack began, the Overlord sat aside and witnessed the attack, doing nothing to assist the Warlords Scylla, leading to the brutal destruction of LR-I.Blame.Your.Mother. This created significant tensions and a desire by Lord Moka to begin plans to develop something to be able to combat such overwhelming enemy forces in the future. Tale of a Tyrant - The Liberty Rogues - 07-02-2012 Chapter Three: Lost one, gained one. It was the near the end of the standard year to date, and the acts of war against the Rogues by the Hellfire Legion were distant but not forgotten. Lord Moka, still furious about the brazen attack on him by the terrorists at his front doorstep had increased production of the Scylla. But word got out to the Liberty Navy that Terre Haute was a significant threat to Liberty. The Liberty Navy ordered an attack on the station and instructed that the station be destroyed at all costs. They launched a surprise attack on the Terre Haute, reducing it to ruins with in hours and severely disabling the Liberty Rogues war machine. An epic battle ensued as the Rogues threw everything they had at the marauders, but by the time most of the defenders arrived, the last of the dreadnoughts were leaving the battle. Caught by a stray cruise disruptor, the large capital ship was disabled and caught. A fierce battle ensued as swarms of snub craft hit the dreadnought with a furious revenge. The LNS-Magnificent was struggling to get herself to the Galileo Jumphole, but in the battle had lost navigational equipment. She found herself lost, under heavy attack and a failing reactor core. Her destruction was inevitable until the torrent of laser fire subsided. Lord Moka arrived on scene with a shuttle full of shock troops, and ordered his men to board and capture the stricken warship. A firefight broke out on board the LNS-Magnificent but only lasted minutes until the crew was captured or killed. The proud Warlord found himself in possession of the finest ship the Liberty Navy offered, and enlisted the help of the Junkers to fix the vessel so he could use it himself. The Junkers were unable to repair the damage to the reactor core, but did manage to repair the defence systems aboard the new prize. When the Junkers were unable to repair anymore of the ship adequately, Lord Moka then offered a great deal of money to the Junkers to download the schematics directly from the dreadnoughts computer. The Junkers accomplished this with minimal difficulty and the Rogues then had the key to reproducing the pride of the Liberty Navy. Tale of a Tyrant - The Liberty Rogues - 07-02-2012 Chapter Four: Rebirth of the war machine After recovering from the aftermath of the loss of the largest Rogue facility, Moka ordered a make-shift shipyard be constructed utilizing anything they had left over from the ruins of the Terre Haute. Not much was salvageable but one near complete shipyard scaffolding was saved, and in true Rogue desperation was mated to hastily dug out asteroids to form an ugly construction dubbed The Nonsense Factory for it's sheer unbelievable shape and construction methods. But it did what it was supposed too, and production of the Scylla was back on track, though not on any scale remotely close to her glorious past. Lord Moka ordered the reconstruction of the LR-I.Blame.Your.Mother but found himself unsettled, forever remembering that fateful day against the Hellfire Legion, and so found himself eager to discover a means to even the playing field. One night, while relaxing in his quarters with his evil hussey, Ruby, it came to him. He envisioned himself commanding the largest ship in the Rogue inventory, the LNS-Magnificent. In the following weeks he gathered his underbosses and told them his grand plan. He was to recreate a replica of the Liberty dreadnought, using Outcast technology. The Sarissa he discovered, was a similar sized vessel to the LNS-Magnificent, and so ordered his finest engineers to research about how to replicate the reactor core and modify it to fit a Liberty dreadnought class vessel. Tale of a Tyrant - The Liberty Rogues - 07-02-2012 Chapter Five: Crime does pay... well. After several weeks, the Rogues best engineers and scientists approached the Lord with a plan. Constructing the dreadnought was going to be tough, but achievable. Moka ordered the immediate start on the project and the large ship began to take shape. More time passed, and the ship was looking much like it should. Several small hiccups slowed the construction down, one being the constant replacement of slaves. With each death, brought hours of basic training to the new victims of free labour. The time had come for a name and with the vessel taking shape, it seemed like the perfect time to fully comprehend the task at hand. The wealth that had the Rogues had saved up were depleting fast as the project became a focus point for the Warlord. He ordered that no costs were to be spared in it's creation, and so he found himself spending more than he had anticipated. The time had come for the need to request a favour of the Rogues allies in the Nation of Malta. A friend in the Council of Dons, Death Runner of the 81st Syndicate offered his immediate assistance and trained Mokas selected scientists and engineers on how to reconstruct the reactor core for a Sarissa and how to mount it to the new Rogue flagship, which had been christened the LR-Unnatural.Disaster. As no costs were spared, the Liberty Rogues only flagship armour was integrated with the Disasters hull structure. With every passing week, the dreadnought was nearing completion. Tale of a Tyrant - The Creature - 02-13-2014 Chapter Six: Is a forced working holiday a holiday at all? At the climax of Lord Moka's rule, dissidence in the ranks of the Rogues took its toll. As the heat of angry pirates around Liberty were zeroing in on Moka, members of his own organization started betraying him. Moka decided that now would be the best time to remove himself from certain death, he boarded the nearly complete Unnatural Disaster and made for the storms in and around the Galileo and Kepler systems where he remained in a self imposed exile until he felt his return would be safe and warranted. He chose the storms as he faced a problem many men with power have; Trust and Loyalty. He was betrayed by some of his closest friends and allies and Moka knew that the only people he could trust were compromised as a result. He could rely on no one but himself, despite the offers. While in exile, he contemplated for some time what should be done and as his basic supplies were beginning to dwindle he decided it was time to come home. RE: Tale of a Tyrant - The Creature - 02-13-2014 Chapter Six: Welcoming surprise. As the Unnatural Disaster made its way home from the rough space in Kepler, he jumped into Galileo to notice that the Cassini jumphole had moved out of it's usual quadrant. One of the Disasters navigational crew explained that during his Lordships absence, gravitational pulls and the number of storms had moved the jumphole into the Colorado system. Moka ordered full speed to Padua where he discovered that his most loyal of followers had created a clan dedicated to His Lordship. Hank was sitting in the bar when he noticed the familiar dark husk of the Disaster making an appearance out of the murky field Padua was situated in. Hank instructed the base to prepare for the Disaster to be met with security and emergency equipment. Once the Disaster moored with Padua, Hank was waiting on the gangway. The last of the airlocks opened and Moka was standing at the entrance to the Disaster, two skinny looking guards on either side of him armed to the teeth with anti-personnel weaponry. Hank greeted his Lord and begged his forgiveness in not finding him. Moka waived it aside and instructed Hank to arrange to have the Disasters navigational computers to be updated with the new location of Cassini jumphole. Some time passed and Moka instructed that Hank accompany him to Cassini where he wishes to contact all of the other Padua Liberty Rogue members to gather at The Nonsense Factory to debrief and begin the work in making the Disasters guns work. As the Disaster left Padua, the large dreadnaught made way for the Colorado jumphole and jumped through it and then made headway for the Cassini jumphole. Cassini jumphole was located to Moka's dismay some 30 clicks from Pueblo station. Tensions were high as the Disaster made a dash for the jumphole. Once in Cassini, Moka felt at ease and instructed his crew to take the Disaster home to The Nonsense Factory as to finish installing and testing the weapons systems. |
