When the sleeper ship Liberty made planetfall on what would come to be known as Planet Manhattan, no one was entirely sure what came next. To ensure the stability of their new society, the Libertonians, as they would come to be called, instituted a military government which reigned over the fledgling colonial nation for twelve years of great progress. In 48 AS, the democratic government mandated the creation of the Liberty Space Exploration Council to oversee civilian space navigation; the same act which created the LSEC also extended the faculties of the Department of Transportation to include the regulation of Manhattan's aerospace and low orbit.
As Liberty grew and became more prosperous, and academia reestablished itself as a respectable part of society, the study of by-now ancient history flourished, and old traditions were revived. An important part of this was the reintroduction of numerous civilian agencies of government, and in 534 AS the Civil Air Patrol was federally chartered as an independent civilian auxiliary to planetside police forces. In 822 AS, with the Gallic war increasing in its urgency and intensity, the Civil Space Patrol was similarly chartered as an auxiliary to the Liberty Navy and the LPI.
Activities
• Providing education for the general public about aerospatial engineering, military activities, and the history of flight.
• Maintaining cadet programs for teenagers and younger adults as a form of community service and helping initiate future military careers.
• Assisting the government and Liberty Armed Forces (LPI, LN, LSF) in emergency situations and providing civilian disaster relief.
• Engaging in flight training and guided live-fire combat practice.
• Undertaking auxiliary patrols of civilian traffic corridors.
Ranks
• Colonel — The leader of the Civil Space Patrol. Appointed by the preceding Colonel.
• Lt. Colonel — Adjutant to the Colonel and second-in-command of the organization. Also holds the rank of Major.
• Major — Senior officer of the Civil Space Patrol, dealing with higher-level functions of the CSP. Majors are also responsible for organizing routine public interaction.
• Lieutenant — Basic officer, in charge of organizing patrols and day-to-day operations.
• Sergeant — Various types of sergeants have various responsibilities and specialties ranging from equipment upkeep to cooking at special events the Patrol hosts.

Faction Concept
Basically we just wanted a laid-back faction that could perform the role of peacekeepers as well as civilians freely within Liberty while also being able to cater to a wide array of characters. The CSP is where the undisciplined children of well-to-do good ol' boys, high-school dropouts whose lives lack direction, would-be armchair generals, retired Naval officers who're too old to serve but not ready to put away the uniform, and that guy in your class who played tactical Airsoft and was always a little too serious all come together to create, hopefully, a fun addition to the roleplay environment of Discovery. We're weekend warriors, here to do what we can for Liberty, but nothing too dangerous!
The CSP isn't intended to be a super-serious group, nor to be anybody's "main". If you sometimes just wanna fly in Liberty with a couple good wingmates at your back, but don't necessarily want to dedicate hours and hours to an intricately-detailed backstory or the obligations that come with joining an official faction like the [LN] or the LPI-, then the CSP might be what you're after.
