' Wrote:Well, if you consider actual lore... Lets look at the green House's situation at the end of the SP campaign:
1) Rheinland is up to its balls in debt.
Yup
2) Has sold numerous planets to corporations in an attempt to finance itself - Stuttgart, Holstein, Nuremberg, Hamburg (to an extent); seriously, they're worse than Liberty for corporate shenanigans.
Stuttgart was 'sold' to synth foods. If you read the lore, it says nothing about selling any other planets out.
3) Military pilots defect to/double-shift as corporations because the RM defaults on their wages.
Vanilla Rumor, but ok.
4) Their core mining grounds have been totally depleted, preventing them from reconstructing their fleet. How does the rich omega 11, 7, Munich, and almost depleted Dresden fields = no resources to build fleet?
5) The Nomad War leaves them with one broken battleship, the Westfalen.
6) Liberty invaded Rheinland at the end of the SP campaign. The Libertonian fleet was occupying New Berlin's orbit within 24 hours of mobilising. Bear in mind, this was against the largest Rheinlandic fleet in history, which had just wiped out the Kusari fleet with minimal effort. Umm, I dont know what single player you played. But as a 8 year vet of freelancer SP, I can say you are incorrect. Untill the end, Liberty and Rheinland were allies due to the nomadic influences in their governments.
Rheinland can't claim to be beating Liberty in any sense of the word outside of player actions. Still, just as well for the RM and other Rheinlandic factions that Igiss thinks logical lore is too much effort, ey? :D
True, but we can thank our lucky stars that Liberty isn't out to conqueror Rheinland, only out to steal some omnoms.
In any case, Nova sellpoints should be added at the very least. Setting up new characters isn't overly important compared to being able to use the ones you already have.
Now, explain to me how bretonia is going to fuel their ships without ANY direct fuel source.
The only shipments you are getting fuel wise is MOX from ALG and H-fuel shipped by RepEx. Maybe a bit from liberty, but considering they are facing a kusari blockade of H-fuel, not much.
Allow me to be frank, bringing up something that has bugged me for a long time:
One of the things Rheinland prides itself in is RPing an economy. I cant see the same of ANY other houses. what happened when kusari got blockaded by the GMG? invisible H fuel reserves. When liberty got blockaded by kusari? unlimited H fuel reserves. Bretonia got fined by the RFP for hauling illegal goods? BRETONIA EJECTED ALL REHINLAND SHIPPING VESSELS FROM THEIR SPACE... WHILE LOOSING A WAR IN THEIR HOME SYSTEMS...
Economics in this? none.
Stop chanting the lore of vanilla freelancer and clutching to it as though it were your prayer beads, and go out there and make some real moves to support your nation, other then dumping toxic waist in-front of New Tokyo and Nuremberg.
Edit: Also, I would like anyone to point out one post where an official faction member of a Rhineland lawful faction is QQing about the assmins being so unfair. IT happened because of the fracked up conflict in the omegas (thankyou bretonia) and we are manning up and dealing with it. I haven't heard bretonia complaining about LD-14, so Ill assume that is good sportsmanship, but its more likely that they just dont give two blanks about their economy and are ignoring the situation like champs. (lol war rationing 4 years after the war with kusari started)
I think we're going a bit off topic here, considering I see that the 'give us back our battleship' is more like a joke rather than a serious complaint and the OP has already stated he's fine with it.
Therefore:
Is there anyone who is seriously against adding another selling point for the Mjolnir and novas to another base?
If not, then get the devs on the line and with time it will hopefully be fixed. No need to argue about anything else...?
And yes, dynamic rp = epic. Finally stuff changes due to player interaction. But this is disco. people will always whine wether you do A or B. It's never good.

Simply? They can't. With the loss of LD-14, there is no logical way for Bretonia to continue the war as they currently are. They have no fuel income, or ability to support their capital ships.
In any case, I can't deal out Bretonian consequences because I'm not the BAF or Bretonia's leadership. I can't say "we're not using capital ships any more because we can't run them" because people would ignore me if I did. Also, I pulled the ejector seat on Bretonia because I've had enough of the place. :P
Losing LD 14 is a hell of a lot more important than losing the Westfalen so far as lore goes, I'd reckon. Gameplay-wise? Not so much.
On the corporate thing:
Stuttgart: "Synth Foods moved in immediately, buying out many of the farming dynasties over the following decades"
Hamburg: "a cosmopolitan planet largely owned by Republican Shipping"
Holstein: "Kruger Minerals offered to transfer ownership of the planet Holstein to Daumann", "settlements have already sprung up on the surface under Daumann's watchful eyes".
Nuremberg: "until in 738 A.S. when Daumann and Republican Shipping jointly purchased the planet from the bankrupt Rheinland government".

Because Mjolnirs and Novas are totally produced on a battleship and not just sold there after being exported from a more logical place to manufacture them, right?
/endsarcasm

Sounds logical, but I guess Rheinland produces more turtles of doom, cruisers and Bergelmirs , not to forget the Katana of Rheinland: The Wraith.

I posted a list of all Rheinland capital ships during the vanilla campaign once.
I want to see any RP proof of why and when that all got destroyed. The story says only that the war ended 2 weeks after the nomads were defeated, not that all the Rheinland ships were destroyed.
And, Rheinland Corporartions owning Rheinland's planets doesn't mean they don't belong to Rheinland anymore. I think it's just like building a house or a big factory in some country. You'll say that territory "belongs to you", but really it's just leased from the state of that country. And also, even if they claim it, they don't have a military to withstand a state takeover by force. Why is Stuttgart still "Synth Foods owned"? Because Rheinland gets profits from them I guess.
So actually those corporations can do whatever they want on those planets, but in the end if the government says "nay", they'll get in deep trouble.
