7*8.33= 58.31 projectiles a second
1 "Beam" gun at 20.00 as suggested in the first post is less than half that output. If it's a forward mount cannon, there is no problem. Cruisers are much more rare than fighters as well.
The problem with the chaingun weapons of the past is that they were fast AND normal guns. Usually 4-6 of them on a fighter.
There used to be beam guns, aka the eco chain gun but it's been nerfed because it was responsible of server lag. I don't think it's coming back any soon.

Yeh but this is to be used as a replacement main gun for the LSC from what I can tell.
So obviously it won't be as bad as a fighter firing several of them at once. I think the main idea is that these weapons be used like the LSC's main gun. Heavy and sustained fire on a specific target. And since, like the LSC's normal forward cannon, it'll be rather tricky to aim. It probably won't be used a huge amount anyway, except probably on RM turtles.
