Crowded to the point of nearly overflowing, the Battleship Hood's bar bustled with activity. Miners, pirates and freelancers constantly came and went from the establishment, betting on races, buying drinks and rough-housing. In the midst of all this, a woman in a simple blue coat with shoulder-length wavy blonde hair weaved her way through the crowd to the bar, and ordered a drink for herself. She had an important meeting to attend to here.
She sat down with her drink at a table near the window of the bar, looking out over the asteroid field and race gates. There was no guarantee that anyone would show up, but the message that she had received seemed to indicate that someone had taken her up on her offer. She took a sip of the drink, and gazed out over the crowd.
The woman glanced up at the man as he sat down. "Punctual." She smiled slightly, taking out a large orange envelope and setting it on the table ahead of her. "Inside this envelope is a disc that contains photographs and logs detailing a pact between the 13th Northern Fleet and the terrorist organization known as the Gaian Underloch. The evidence should speak for itself, but it shows that the 13th and the Underloch agreed to a mutual cease fire, and that the 13th would ignore the criminal activities of the Underloch." She grinned at him. "Information which, no doubt, would help your investigation along, wouldn't it?"
"I choose to tell you now because it has become convenient for me to share it with you now," the woman said. "Had I shared it any earlier, the consequences may have been undesirable for those whom I work with."
She paused to take a drink from the glass in front of her, though she kept her eyes on the man. Despite her casual outward demeanor, the way she looked over him indicated a more calculated and cautious mindset, as though he might lash out at any moment. Setting her drink down ahead of her, she cleared her throat quietly. "In return for this, I would like you to make a pact that you will not attack the Gaian Underloch, and you will not disrupt their operations unless absolutely necessary."
