Alrighty. Another vent by your friendly neighborhood Pigdog.
(...oooh! Pigdog. That's an alt waiting to happen:crazy:)
Anyway, those that know me understand that I have a deep and almost unhealthy love of all things Silent Hill, so when I finally got off my ass & brought home the Silent Hill HD collection (parts II & III) I was happier than a dead kid in a candy store. I was set. I had my PS3 controller all charged up, my HDTV settings optimized, a bowl loaded apiece for each major save point in the game & I was all psyched & set for a disturbing ass romp though creepy-ass memory lane.
What ended up happening is that I blew actual money on nothin' but a decade-old lazycrappy effin' port.
'grrr' would be an understatement, as would "GRRRRRR!!!!" for that matter.
Deep down, I knew better...but I thought, "Meh. It's Silent Hill, Man!" & by shelling out actual cash for it, I got burned worse than Alessa for it.
Hell, even after the auto-patch during install, it still has the same audio synch issues as the crappy PC port. Never mind the fact that there are absolutely zero noticeable updates to anything besides the voices.
That's what I get for ignoring my instincts & trusting a corporation for a little bit of nostalgia.
The same goes for the Devil May Cry HD remake(I, II and III if i remember correctly)
All in all, nothing really better than the originals, just a method for the producers/corporations/etc to haul in money while doing little to no work

Oh, I more than understand the reasons to re-release old stuff...I'm just mad that I got suckered into a line of false advertisement. If I knew going in that the collection was nothing but a port, I'd have been perfectly fine by that & waited till I could find a used copy for 20 bucks or less...but no. I was hornswaggled by deceptive packaging & empty promises of something much, much more than what I got & wasted alot of cash better spent on other things
It's reasons like this that game companies deserve to have their products ripped off online & why I never have any guilt about doing it in the normal run of things
The only thing "HD" about it are the letters on the package. There are no graphical updates anywhere in the game...hence my grumbling about the corporate snookery trap I sprung by buying it.
Still fun as hell though...at least until you restart for the 7th time in a week trying for that effin' 10-star rating:angry::angry:
