So one of the problems with the ignore feature is that like on most boards, it just hides a person's post text. This still makes their visible presence very large and if someone has a good enough reason to ignore someone, it justifies much more than it does currently. On that basis, I propose the following (and I know how much I ask) happens to a post of an ignored user:
Avatar is not displayed
Signature is not displayed
Group, join date, "From" text are hidden
Simply put, an "ignore" feature should take advantage of the out-of-sight/out-of-mind principle as much as possible.
Comments from <strike>people</strike> non-admins/mods not welcome - If you disagree with a mildly active thread the best thing you can do is let it fall.
Yeah if you really dislike someone enough to want to erase all existence from your life then I think that's more of a personal issue that should be solved through intensive therapy, not effort on the part of the sysadmis.
