Hi, I'm having difficulties trying to record Freelancer gameplay. Let me give you all the info you need if you could help making me solve this problem.
What is the problem in detail: When I try to record Freelancer gameplay my framerate drops with about 100 frames per second. Gameplay doesn't feel smooth and stutters from time to time.
Software used: Dxtory 2.0.120
Hardware: AMD FX-8350, XFX R7970 Black Edition, 2TB HDD (Write speed of 130MB/s), Old 160GB HDD.
Freelancer and Disco is installed on the old 160GB HDD and I record directly to my 2TB C:\ drive into 720p (using Dxtory's scaling function).
I don't know why it happens, my setup seems fine to me. I can record other games like Battlefield 3 just fine, it's smooth and I am still able to play at ~80fps. I'm out of ideas, hopefully one of you might find a solution for me.
codec and your settings used...? or try setting different core affinity since fl is single threaded- eg. core 0 for fl and core 1 for dxtory, and give em both high priority. since fx 8350 is terrible in terms of single-threaded performance. Or try using fraps and see if a similar situation occurs
No atmosphere? GTFO.

Tried using fraps, same issue. Codec used is Dxtory Video Codec. Can you give me a quick tutorial on how to set up that core affinity thing you're talking about? I have no clue how to do that.
EDIT: Graph of CPU while recording: http://i.imgur.com/9VzxnrW.jpg
core 1 is on high load but not full load. So I doubt if that's the problem.
the problem is most likely freelancer then. it happens sometimes.
setting processor affinity fixes an application to the processor core of your choice so it uses only that core and not the other cores, via task manager-> processes -> right click freelancer.exe process -> set affinity -> untick cores you don't want fl to use - i recommend using core "CPU 7" (untick all but one since fl uses only one anyway)
then right click freelancer.exe process and set priority to as high as you can set it.
otherwise its just freelancer. it's an old game an not properly optimised for stuffs. I can only help this much
Thanks for your help, setting up the core affinity did result in a higher FPS, however it still didn't felt smooth and there is still a lot of stuttering going on. Other than a higher number in the top right corner of my screen there wasn't really an improvement.
