"It was on that day the world ended. Planet Earth and the planets around
it all destroyed. Mars,Mercury, Saturn, and Uranus Sector. All destroyed.
The coalition that though they claimed victory suddenly attacking things
they've never seen before, just minutes before it was all destroyed.
With the alliance long gone. Our one ship was the only thing we
had against those things."
A man told the story of what we did so long ago. We were just drinking
and chatting in the main lounge area of the ship. The only view
outside was rocks. Nothing but rocks. The man was talking about
how we chased down the purple things that attacked our home, Planet
Earth. I don't know why we've been told this story so much. It was
so long ago. Yet it seems like it was only last month. The ship itself
has sustained our lives for this long and all we've been doing is
chasing something, we don't know how far it is. All we know is that
the beacon we placed on it is still active and ever so often that
beacon moved to another location.
I sat at the officers table looking at the reports from that
encounter. That's all I do, every day. Reading the reports
of a massive object never seen before by our eyes. Launching
a beam directly at the sun. Blowing it up and causing an explosion
so massive the only choice the leader of the ship had was to
do an emergency jump to beat the blast. I looked at the pictures
of that ship. The only evidence that the story the old man was talking
about exist. Funny how I call him an old man when I'm only ten
years younger. I also found it funny that we just so happen to
built this ship just for the same reason that the purple thing had.
To destroy life.
Our ship. The crew gave her a nickname even though none of her
weapons were ever tested. Her name "The Reaper of Dreams."
The name held because most the crews dreams to see land ever
were slim to none. Taking that dream the ship took many others.
If what the ships stats state. This ship should be able to
blow up any object from long distance in a single shot. So far
we haven't tested that ability. After reading I decided to listen
a bit more to the story the old man was saying.
"She's a beauty aint she (He was referring to the ship) took us
almost 10 years to make but she's finally come to life. Keeping
us alive is what she was made for."
As he continued to ramble on about the ship. I thought to myself
how we were technologically superior compared to the alliance.
Yet we acted nothing like the Coalition. We chose to title our
selves as independent after a year of this chase.
The ship has a lower section dedicated to hydroponics,
which was what the man was talking about.
As I continued to listen my video-phone went off.
"Sir you might want to come look at this."
That one sentence echoed throughout the entire lounge.
Which sent a slight shiver down my spine as everyone, including
the old man, stopped talking.
I stood up and started to walk out of the lounge, toward the bridge
of the ship. The bridge is basically the command center just shortened
down to one word, made life easier for me I guess.
As I walked toward the exit of the lounge everyone in the room stared
at me all the way to the exit. They knew something was up.
After walking down the long corridor. Away from everyone I arrived at
the bridge. Everyone in the room stood up and saluted me. As I
nodded they all went back to work. My second in command, Admiral
Jessica Hinton came up to me.
She handed me a infocard with lots of data on it. "We found it sir." She said with a small grin.
The infocard showed a large purple object. Just like the image in
the reports sitting next to a rather large planet. Which was shielded
from what we can tell. Around the planet there was a bunch of smaller
purple objects just flying all over the place. From what we could tell
we weren't detected.

The massive purple vessel, the very ship that destroyed our home.
It was right in front of us and we were ready to get revenge. I sat
in the commanders chair to the bridge. Staring at the image
in front of us. Now came a choice. To hit the ship or to hit the planet.
I decided to call a vote.
"Alright we've been chasing this things tail for years. Now we have
caught it. Here's the dilemma. Which should we attack first? The
ship or the planet.? We all know that the main guns cool down time
is of or about 5 minutes. In that five minutes alot can happen.
We also know that whatever these things are, they are very powerful.
So lets discuss it. Show of hands who says we should attack the ship
with the first shot. Being we are in range and from what I can guess
we are undetected."
Most of the crew raised their hands showing the new target would
indeed be the very vessel that took out their home.
"Alright all hands red alert prepare the main gun to fire. Put all
power into the main gun and leave enough for the shield to stay
at full!"
As I gave the order the entire ship went pitch black all things
that didnt need to be on weren't. Most the ship was silent at
this time as everyone onboard waited for this very moment.
Some, even the old man, thought they'd never see the day
we got revenge.
All I heard after the ship went black was a humming noise that
gradually got louder and louder. Though at the peak of what
I thought was as loud as the hum would get. The humming
suddenly died. The main gun malfunctioned. Then again
it was never fired or used until this moment.
"Sir the cannon had a coolant malfunction the engineers
are working as fast as they can to fix it."
I nodded to the girl who told me the news. Just then another
crew member spoke out. More like yelled out really.
"SIR! Unknown vessel appearing on our port side!"
A large vessel not of the purple type appeared next to us.
"Sir it's hailing us."
"This is Commodore Caitlyn Shauers of the 122nd Order Guard.
On board the 122nd Flagship, Tenabras. We have been watching
you for quite some time on long range scans. We see that you
are going to attack one of the main hive of the Nomads.
Our attacks in recent months have failed and ask that you stand
down or face the same fate as the others. That planet is
almost indestructible."
"Commodore Caitlyn huh...What makes us think your not one of
them?" I asked."
She gave me a simple and abrupt response. "Do we look purple?!"
I made a slight chuckle before responding.
"No I guess not. Well this is Fleet Admiral Scotty Grounds. We are
an independent coalition vessel from the Milky Way System. We
are not here to blow up the planet but blow up the ship that blew
our home up. Planet Earth."
As I waited for a response I knew I said something wrong. Or
did I say something right?
"Earth...Nomads....Blowing up earth?! Admiral! We havent tried
to attack the main vessel. You may go ahead and try. We will
block off any attackers."
The Tenabras pulled a bit forward as the humming commenced
yet again. This time it went passed the last point in loud constant
hum. As the cannon charged up the Tenabras vanished as though
it were never there. We thought it ditched us.
The humming went to a steady loud constant hum. As
the screen showed the heat signature of the cannon
rise rapidly. The cannons heat signature eventually
leveled out. It was ready to fire.
"All systems check she's ready to open up."
I recall one of the crew telling me as I gave back
an instant response. "Fire."
There was a massive explosion as the entire ship
raddled shaking me off my feat. When I got back
up you can see the trail of the main cannon as
it sped through the rock field. Decimating anything
it touched. Until finally the it impacted the large
purple vessel. Then another bright light appeared
as though the cannon fired again, it wasn't the
cannon. The flash of light was the ship suddenly
take a full on blow from the cannon right at
the front of the ship. Then just as fast as it
happened the ship exploded.
We didn't realize how close the purple vessel was
from the planet until the smoke cleared from
the explosion. Once it cleared we can clearly see
that we had awoken the beast. A massive purple
swarm of small vessels came pouring out of the
large hole the cannon had created, it went right
through the entire ship and the planet's shell.
Leaving a charred section on the planets surface.
As the wave of small purple vessels appeared.
With a few somewhat larger ones a voice came
over the comm. It was the commodore to the
Tenabras.
"Unknown vessel." They clearly didnt give us
a name yet. "Get your cannon up for another
shot. We will deal with this wave."
I thought to myself. We are massive compared
to that ship. How will it take on a wave far bigger
then we are. My question was soon to be answered.
"The main gun commodore has a 5 min recharge.
you will have to wait." I replied.
Right when I finished with my reply the Tenabras
appeared directly in front of our vessel. Shielding us
from the wave. Then out of no where a sudden
wave of heavy weapon fire came from all around us.
Weapon fire was flying over and under our ship from
all angles. The Tenabras, which was in front of us,
couldn't possibly be doing this. We saw it firing but
not from behind us.
As we watched the wave of weapon fire we heard the
commodores voice.
"122nd Order Guard mow them down."
As that line was said we found out what was shooting
at the purple things from behind us. An entire
fleet in a sphere formation around our ship had
appeared out of no where, ranging in size of ships.
The massive fleet destroyed the purple wave like
nothing. As the wave became nothing the fleet
vanished and the Tenabras moved. We started
to think they were ghosts.
The commodore spoke again.
"It's been 5 minutes fire your gun before more show up."
Those words had to be the devils work because at
that moment two of the same vessel we just destroyed
appeared near the planet. Not blocking our fire at the planet.
The commodore screamed out the order. "FIRE!"
I didnt give the command but my crew did it anyways.
Knocking me off my feat yet again. This time I didn't
get up though. The recoil to that shot launched me 10
feet. The entire ship was pushed back from that shot.
Slamming into what we think was one of the 122nd ships.
When I got the strength to get up the beam from the
cannon hit the planet. On impact there was no bright
light but an explosion followed by a massive shockwave.
When the debris from the initial impact cleared we
can see small explosions throughout the shell and
the planet. The planet was dieing... after a few
seconds passed the planet, still exploding. was turning
a lava red color. As the two purple vessels approached
one of them suddenly stopped in it's tracks. I had no
idea why until I looked at the scanner.
A massive wave of missiles of some sort. Maybe torpedoes
passed all around our ship again. It looked as if we had
fire them, but we knew it was the 122nd launching them
at rather close proximity to our ship. The missiles
slammed into the ship, a good twenty or so. Even
a ship that size couldn't take a blow of that magnitude.
As it exploded, so did the planet. Making a light so
bright we had to shield our eyes. As the light faded we
knew we had to get out of there, and fast. The
commodore spoke for the final time before vanishing again.
"122nd Order Guard ships. Full retreat! I repeat full retreat!"
The explosion from the planet and the ship made a wave
of destruction come our way. There was no escape for us
from something like that. The other large purple ship.
Still coming at us was engulfed instantly by the blast.
We saw another small flash of light as it exploded
in the wave. It was our turn to take the hit.
"Reroute all power to the shields!"
I yelled out as a final command before the wall hit us.
I don't remember what happen after that. I was thrown
into something or someone and knocked unconcious.
After two hours of being in the infirmary the doctor decided
to release me. She also gave me some pain relievers
for a head ache that I acquired.
The 122nd fleet was still preparing to tow the ship. Though
from the looks of things they were almost ready. A ship
of our size couldn't be towed by the smaller vessels they
brought with them. So they instead used the two flagships
they had. It was time to get moving.
"Commodore Caitlyn Shauers here. We are ready to start
moving when you are." Her voice rang over the comm
system of our ship. Though old she still seemed rather
modern to us.
I told the bridge to give Ms. Shauers the thumbs up.
As I continued to walk down the hall to get to the
bridge.
"Alright hold on to something." Caitlyn said as the ship
jolted forward. The large battleships towing her to this
shipyard they mentioned. Could it be their home or
just an outpost. I would hope these questions would
be answered soon.
--
We've been being towed for several hours now. The
Order ships were not able to engage cruise engines
while towing us. So we decided to stay at normal
engine speed.
The sphere formation around our ship intimidated me
a bit. For if they did become our enemies in this
short time. They would surely blow us up.
All I know is that purple thing. That killed our home
was finally destroyed. Making me fear that we have
angered them. Those things. Those nomads.
Countless raids on the fleet were being made by those
things though not one was piercing it. This fleet was
well commanded and for that I was happy. Happy
to see a ship that wasn't mine. For so long this ship
has sheltered us. For so long have we had no
contacts with others. This sudden group brought
up the moral of my crew by so much.
The fleet that is towing us was attacked by a smaller version
of that destructive thing that blew up our home!
We however couldn't do a thing about it. The fleet pushed in
the formation to protect our ship. They obviously didn't want
us destroyed.
All we could hear was ships constantly opening fire. The sound
of small explosion probably from fighters blowing up or
something.
My crew was quiet the whole time from the start when we were
being towed. A few whispers here and there. Even though a
fight was going on all around us no one really spoke.
I guess in their minds they couldn't believe what was going
on. I couldn't really believe it myself.
As I sat in the bridge just waiting for something to happen.
The commodore's voice came on the comm.
"We have to detach the towing cables for a minute. Stand
by you may start to take some hits."
The cables from the two ships dropped as they moved forward.
The angle they were in I believe made it so not all guns
fired only the ones in view. Both ships turned in sequence and
continued to launch volleys of shells at the attacking ships.
For a ship it's size it was taking one hell of a beating.
As I watched I notice doors open below both the battleships.
Small fighters type vessels launched from both of them.
Roughly 20 per ship.
They were then found out to be bombers. The bombers
attacked in squadrons of 4 each. The big vessel they were
attacking couldn't take anymore. It finally exploded with
a small shockwave that had no affect on any of the ships.
"Alright sorry to say we can not protect your ship while towing
you." Caitlyn said though she still spoke in a rather cheery
voice. It was getting on my nerves.
"Alright Commodore what do you suggest we do. There is
a big whole in our engine so we can't really move without
being towed." I responded.
"Well sir you can just wait here a sec and I will tell you
what my fleet will do."
She didn't seem to happy at what I said I guess.
We then heared another voice come over the comm.
"This is the 122nd Auxiliary Rescue, Research and Recon
fleet to 122nd Flagship. We have recieved your transmission
all ships hold fire. Aesir and Kestrel appearing."
Two more ships appeared these two were rather small
capital ships I would assume. Then a small group of
of 4 escort ships appeared next to them.
"Sorry we're later got in a little ruffle. 122nd Auxiliary Rescue,
Research and Recon escort wing here to aid the main fleet."
This was no longer a fleet I saw. It was an army!
The Aesir and Kestrel latched onto our ship and started to tow
us without saying a word. As it's escort wing went about repairing
the engine.
This Commodore had control over all these vessels!
"It'll be about 2 more hours before we make it to the shipyard.
There your crew can rest and resupply if you need to."
This commodore seemed like the type of person I wouldn't
want to get mad at me....
"This is Commodore Caitlyn Shauers to Evora Shipyard.
Requesting permission to park this ..... one sec."
"Unknown vessel. Who is in command and what's your
name? Also what's your ships name?"
She was talking to me.
"I am Captain John Reynolds of the Coalition ship
Kalyco."
"Really?! Hmm okay."
"Evora, permission to drop off Coalition vessel Kalyco?"
"Commodore Caitlyn I don't recall the Coalition having
ownership of a ship of that size."
"Niether do we but they say there Coalition."
"This is Captain John Reynolds of the Coalition Ship.
We have traveled from the Sol system to the location
where your fleet picked us up. From what I gather you
know of other Calition ships that made it out this far?
If so I ask that you tow us there instead and we will
work something out from there."
"Evora to Captain Reynolds that sounds like a better
plan. We will dispatch a different fleet to tow you
to your destination. The 122nd has gone far beyond
the call for today and needs to rest. We wish you
luck with your coalition friends."
The 122nd ship vanished for the last time. The
Commodore nor any of the other ships said
a word when they left. Not even to the station.
Either I was dreaming or it was all real.
Will I ever meet that fleet commander in person I
thought to myself.
--
The fleet that was towing us assured us that it was
all friendly space to our destination. Surprisingly it was.
The towing vessels dropped us off near a planet then
vanished.
There was nothing out here but this planet and a field.
"Unknown vessel you have entered the Sirius Coalition
Revolutionary Army space. Please identify yourself."
A voice over the comm came on.
"This is Coalition vessel 1-0241240-01602413769
We have been towed here by a group called the Order."
"1-0241240...what the heck are you saying....we haven't
used coding like that for ages now! What's your call name"
"Kalyco" I responded.
"That ship is said to be missing over 100 years ago. That
can't be possible."
Apparently our ship was still on records at least.
"Not every thing seems possible these days pilot."
I told the man on the other end.
"You also said the Order dropped you off here. That too is
not possible. The order were not registered in our space for
the passed couple months."
I was starting to get confused.
"You are to give us a real name and a real explanation of
your being here or we deem you hostile!"
Our ship was already battered I know it can take on a group
of fighters but to what cost. I couldn't take another attack.
Than again they didnt believe me either.
"Your times up pilot seeing as how you didn't respond to
our last message you are hence forth considered a hostile
target to us and are to be shot on site."
Crud....a enemy to our own kind. What a day...
"This is Commodore Caitlyn Shauers of the 122nd Order Guard
to Coalition forces. The ship we just dropped off is indeed the
kalyco. She is the final surviving ship of the Sol System disaster."
The best thing I've ever heard if I ever knew anything else.
Her timing was impeccable.
"Roger that 122nd thank you. Kalyco you are cleared to move
toward the station. Welcome Home."
Home. Heh I guess it was now....
"You heard them start to head to the station."
There was a sudden high weezing noise that then cut off completly.
I heard and explosion! It was the engine! I forgot about the whole
in the engine....the ship was exploding!
"All hands abandon ship!"
It was too late.
I saw the fire come up the corridor extremely fast.
Right before it hit me....I woke up.
Extremely hot from the sun beating on me through my bedroom
window. It was all a dream?
