The evening came as usual, with huge clouds and a lot of rain. Doctor Jacob Zed ran into the room and shut the door. He was searching for his keys, but couldnt find it. All the sudden, he fell on the floor and the door broke to bits, leaving a huge boot at the place where the wooden door used to be. Dr. Zed knew exactly who it was. He didnt want it to end like this, but he could have known better. He was a doctor working for courts as an autopsy doctor. Lately, he had to work in quite ugly cases, where quite big people wanted him to lie to the judges, saying that certain deaths were caused by an accident. Of course, he never wanted to break the law, so he never was able to be bought simply with credits. But in this occasion, it was different. The guy didnt want to give credits. In a matter of fact, he wanted to take something instead. This something was Dr. Zeds life, and his entire family. Jacob didnt want to let that happen, but he wasnt enough to handle such a crime organization.
Jacob Zed never could and never did lie to anyone when it was about justice. This is what got him into trouble. As the door broke, his wife ran out of their bedroom. At the moment she saw what happened, she screamed as loud as she could. This wake Edmund up, who was asleep in the other end of the house. He was scared, but was also curious about what was happening, so he peaked out on his door. He saw his mom standing in front of a man, but he couldnt see his face, only his outlines. He also saw his father lying on the floor, shouting with the guy at the door. Then Edmunds eyes returned to the guy standing in the door. He didnt say a word, but started searching in his coats pockets. All of the sudden, he pulled a knife with an edge of around 15 cm. Mrs. Zed shouted again and started running. She ran straight into Edmunds room, knocking the 8 year old boy in the head and making him fall unconscious behind the door. He was in this state for a few minutes only, but when he woke up, it was dark and quiet. Edmund tried to stand and push the door away, but after that, he just stood still. What he saw was something that shouldnt be seen by a child of his age.
His mother was lying on the floor, and something strange was under her. At first the young Edmund didnt know what to do, so he searched for the light switch. As the lights turned up, the sight of her mother unfolded. The was covered in blood, her left arm and leg had open wounds all over, her throat was cut and blood was coming out of the wound. Her eyes were gray and lifeless, her face was full of blood stains and her hair was ripped out on some parts. Edmund stood still, looking at the dead body in front of her and didnt say a word. He didnt even realized what was happening. After a few moments, he turned to where he last saw his father, but he wasnt there anymore or not entirely to be exact. His arms and chest was covered with wounds as well, but something was missing. As Edmund walked closer, he figured out what it was Jacob Zeds head was cut from his neck. The boy didnt know what to do, but for a strange reason, he wasnt scared much. He loved his parents, but the smell and sight of blood gave him a safe feeling. After revising on what he saw, he went into his parents room and slept through the rest of the night.
Next morning, a neighbor saw the broken front door and could smell the stench of rotting flesh and blood and called the police. The officer arriving to the scene found Edmund still sleeping on the bedroom with his hands and feet covered in blood. They took him to the nearest hospital for a general checkup to make sure he didnt suffer any injuries. His interrogation wasnt too successful, since he couldnt say too much about what happened, just kept talking about all the blood on the floor and that he was lying behind the door when everything happened. A few days later, he was released from hospital and was placed under the authorities of his grandparents.
As time passed, everyone continued with their lives. Same was for Edmund Zed, who became strange ever since that night. His grandparents didnt really understand what was on his mind, but he kept making strange drawings of dead bodies and blood. He visited four different psychologists with this, but none of them found anything strange in Edmunds behavior. After a few years, he stopped drawing them and everything went on like a normal boys life would.
After finishing Elementary and High school, Edmund decided to follow his fathers path and become a doctor. He attended to Cambridge University where he studies surgery and psychology. After graduating, he was practicing in different hospitals all over the four houses depending on where his knowledge was needed. His colleges didnt really like him, since he was usually acting strange during surgeries and examinations. He seemed to be attracted by the sight and smell of blood and on some occasions, he stared at the patient during operations.
One day, while Dr. Edmund Zed was visiting the local hospital on California Minor. After the operation, Dr. Zed simply disappeared from the hospital for three hours. When he returned, he looked calm and happy, what was quite strange from him. Next day, the police gave out an arrestment order for an unknown suspect for murdering a man in a residential area on the planet. No one knew what happened exactly, but rumors said that a couple was killed in their house with extreme brutality. The police had no suspects and even the people living nearby had any idea who could have done this to them. The case was never solved.
A week later, Dr. Zed was called for an emergency operation to Planet New London. He rushed there as fast as he could. This was another thing his colleges found quite strange. After the operation, Edmund disappeared yet again and only returned late in the evening. By a coincidence, the police found a couple dead in their house next day. Their method of murder was quite similar to the couple killed on California Minor a week ago. The local police authorities announced that this is probably the doing of a serial killer and that all citizens are to be on lookout for anything and anybody strange. Only a few hours passed after the announcement when a woman called the police about a stranger wondering around in a residential area carrying some sort of tools and two large bags. The officers replying to the call arrived in a few minutes and found the door of a nearby house broken. They went into the house and found a dead woman lying on the floor, covered in blood and had his left arm half cut from her shoulder. At the same moment, they heard a scream coming from a room further in the house. They rushed in and saw a man in a doctors uniform standing in front of a young man with a strange looking saw in his hand. Then the doctor-looking guy struck down on his victim crushing his skull and cutting into his brain. Blood and bone shards covered the walls and the uniform of the officers as they shouted on the suspect. As the man turned around, they were shocked. The man was wearing a mask, so they couldnt see his face and was covered in blood. But his name tag was on is on his coat. One of the officers was able to read the name. It was saying Dr. Edmund Zed, Emergency Surgeon. The next thing he saw was the before used weapon heading towards him, then everything went black and he fell down on the floor. His college tried to reach for his sidearm, but had no time, cause the Doctor struck him as well, breaking his arm and at least 3 of his ribs. Then the Doctor ran out of the house and disappeared on the dark street. Backup arrived a few minutes after and took the injured officer to hospital. After she regained consciousness, she told her superior what she was and what happened. A few minutes later, the arrestment notice was out for Dr. Edmund Zed, who became the number one suspect for the three murders, killing a police officer and the attempt to kill another officer. Commando units were dispatched to the hospital where Dr. Zed was last seen and to his house nearby, but nobody found him. Instead, they found another two bodies brutally killed in the Doctors apartment. An hour later, the docking officer of a civilian landing platform was also found dead, the cause of death was exactly the same as in the earlier cases. The suspect was Dr. Zed again. The investigation team on the scene found that a Spatial-class Deep Space Explorer was stolen from the landing pad, probably by Dr. Zed which he used to escape from the planet.
The police was looking for Dr. Edmund Zed in the next few days all around Bretonia, but didnt have any luck in finding him. However, he was declared a criminal and was kicked out of the Medical Association effective immediately.
Head of the Association and the Officer in Charge of Investigations only said a few words about what happened:
-This is a very disappointing and shocking tragedy, not only because a great medical professional turned into a mindless killer, but mostly because of the many lives lost due to not seeing the signs of this happening to Edmund Zed. From now on, Edmund Zed is not a member of the Sirius Medical Association and as such, cannot perform any medical duties anywhere. Also, he is wanted for the murder of seven civilians and a police officer.
I've spent the last few days in the welcoming space of Liberty. It's been a while since I last came here. And back then, circumstances were different. But this is the interesting in life.
One thing that didn't change is the attitude of Libertonians. Some of them kept their friendly manners, some became even more hilarious. But this time, I looked at people from a different angle. I saw perfect subjects everywhere. I felt overwhelming joy, since it's been a while since I was able to do what I am the best at ... surgery.
My part time hosts were quite welcoming, especially when they realized I am hunting their enemies. From then, I only had to ask for anything. With their help, I managed to make a really nice deal with the local Junkers. They were happy to sell me some equipment for ... medical reasons of course. In my point of view, medical reasons mean a lot of things.
With my new equipment, I went .. hunting a bit, and found quite a lot of useful test subjects. Most of them didn't like the idea of becoming this, but I didn't really care to ask them.
I've made quite a noise in New York, so I decided to visit the Rouge base in California. But before I could land there to begin my latest experiments, I ran into a few pilots who were really interested in my work. After explaining them what I'm doing nowadays, with their excuse , I landed on Alcatraz, since my little subjects were starting to make a lot of noise in the cargo hold.
During the next few days, I've been on board my ship, in the cargo hold more exactly, conducting my researches ... and making those pilots bleed as long as they lived. I've figured that Navy pilots are quite tough and can tolerate loads of pain, but at the end, they die like everyone else. But they were the most useful. Unfortunate for me, my experiments consumed way too many people, so I ran out of them and had to put my work on hold. But not for long.
I returned to New York, in search of another group of people interested in becoming experimental bodies. While I was searching, I had a most delightful discussion with Miss Christiana Robinson, from the Liberty Navy. Without any lies, I must say she was quite amusing company. But business came first, and I had to find some pilots. This is when I first felt that someone really likes me.
A freelancer , named Artemis Fletcher , contacted me on a secure channel. He told me that he has some pilots that I was looking for. I caught the opportunity and made a great deal with the pilot.
I was so eager to continue my work that I did while my ship was still floating in space. This was a bad idea, but at least now I know that. A quite mindless Bounty Hunter came along and .. without any sign of civilized behavior ... it started firing on me, while pointing out that he has a bigger and more powerful vessel then mine.
Fortunately he was not only rude, but stupid, as it was easier to escape from him then making a pilot bleed through it's eye-holes. But enough of that, I will end this log right now, I have to continue my work. I will be on Buffalo for the next few days.
Another week, another successful hunt in Liberty. Yet again, I found a friendly group of Liberty Rogues. I have to admit, they are still the friendliest kind of people in Liberty. I was supprised how kind and well educated they are. However they did mistake me for some average doctor. That hurt a bit, but mistakes happen. We had quite a good time, I have to admit.
Most unfortunate, people still can't tolerate when I comment my work. But I really don't understand what's their problem with the beauties of blood and flesh, the bones that make a body up, and the fact that someone like me is eager to know everything that can possibly be known about a humans body.
While they were quite strange when I started to operate a patient, they helped me quite a lot in gathering a lovely amount of test subjects on board my ship.
With all these people - poor guys, they don't even know how much they help me whit dieing - I've decided to return to Alcatraz Depo and do some more ... work so to speak.
But before that, I went for a walk around the base and saw an interesting piece of technology , a ship of the Rogues and the Mollies joint shipyard, the "Werewolf"-class fighter. It's large enough for my needs, yet agile and well defended to keep unwanted people away... So I've decided to contact the Rogues about the ship, so with a bit of luck, I can get my equipment on one of those. By my mistake, and the fact that my neural net console needs an update, I've sent my message on a wrong channel and had to find the proper place for my message.
Quite some time passed since I last made a log entry. Since then, a lot has happened. After gathering quite a lot of information from the candidates from the Liberty Navy and Police in cooperation with some Bounty Hunters. However, things got quite hard in Liberty, since as always, most of it's populated systems are also crowded with the brave law enforcers and local pirate pilots.
In light of this, I've decided to take a trip to a more calm and civilized part of Sirius, to my old home, Bretonia. Needless to say, I was quite eager to see what changed there since I left in such a hurry, but for my greatest disappointment, not much has changed there either. Most things got even worse, as even New London seemed like a wasteland with noone around. No one, except for a few corsair and junker pilots and an Armed Forced pilot. Well,I have to admit, that pilot did make me a headache, as I'm not used to fighter combat, but I managed to get away in one piece, thanks to my ..uhm... good relations with Junkers.
Unfortunately, my ship did feel the guns of the pilot, and the repair bill showed the same. Darn, that cost me a lot. However, during my ship was at the repair dock, I had time to actually document my researches and to illustrate what I found out. For this reason, I've decided to make a book so that my research will serve a good cause later on.
So far I've only got a few pages, but I think uploading them to my neural net account is needed as I'd hate to loose the papers due to any unexpected events.
My first area of research was the head and the brain. I have to admit, it was pretty hard to remove all the organs and skin that was in the way to actually see the human skull, muscles and most important the human brain. However, due to the lifestyle of Libertonians doesn't really benefit their bodies in any way, so the quality of the research material was rather bad ...
Next, I moved on to larger parts of the body, more precisely the chest, ribs and the spine. Unfortunately I was in the middle of cutting a pilot open, so the pages have a few blood spills on it. It was lovely to see how the ribs cover the lungs and the hearth trying to protect it from outer impact. Of course, the proper tools can break any defense, so my patients didn't really have a chance. The spine was a bit harder nut to crack. Extracting it from the subject's back without actually injuring any muscles around it and trying to make him or her lose the least blood took all my skills and knowledge, but as the pages tell, I was successful.
*The sound of the bell indicates that someone's at Dr. Zed's door.*
Oh damn, at a time like this ... Oh well, I guess my ship is ready, I think I'll finish this log for now, and will continue later on, after I gathered another bunch of ... experimental material ... oh I really like this, since it makes my actions less .. cruel I suppose.
