ive had my computer for a year now- never really encountered any virus related problems. the key (obviously) is to not visit sites that your antivirus warns you about. if you can't find it on the big sites, then some sketchy site's probably not gonna have it. also keep in mind that when "surfing" the net, information still has to be downloaded onto your computer for them to appear on your screen/browser.

Yeah that was the first thing she tried. It appeared to work, but you never know what else has been installed alongside it.

I get this white screen saying my comp is locked pending investigation for down loading copy right material, ilegal software and so on. Pay $100.00 and comp will be unlocked in 72 hours pending investigation.
Now everytime i turn on comp, and go to administration account i get this white screen. I try safe mode, and comp reboots to normal mode. I cannot access nothing on Admin account.
Now i log into other user account(where i am now) and starts fine, so i know this is not real, but some type of virus/scam.
Anyone ever hear of this? Or should i just wipe drive, and re-install everything all over again, which i really do not want to do.
Err...Wiping would be the quckest way,.. you got some nasty ransomeware it seems, even if it was payed off it would still be locked up, i reccomend running combofix and malware bytes if you can somehow, if not. err idk what you can do

Secure mode, restore your PC to a previous date (before you got the virus) and all is done.
Safe*
Why the heck did I just post on a 7 months old thread.

This virus was easy to remove, i just opened task manager and found a weird looking process...turned out to be the virus so i just deleted the folder it was in and the whole problem went away
