Synopsis of events - After a few basic flights to get used to the controls and handling of my new Odin, I was ready to begin a small patrol. Leaving Vogtland I flew to the edge of the smog cloud and gathered my bearings before jumping into the open area by the Battleship Altenburg.
As I was checking my Odin's star chart I saw my scanners pick up a flight of bounty hunters combating a lone Hessian comrade about 5 klicks from my current position. The Hessian was already wounded, so I punched the cruise engines and closed the distance between the cowardly bounty hunters and our brave comrade.
"No time like the present to test this ship out," I muttered to myself as I leaned into one of the hunters. Utterly surpised by my approach, the bounty hunters ship almost instantly exploded from the force of my guns. Opening the broadcast channel, I demanded the two remaining hunters to retreat or face death. There was no response, so after a few minutes the other Hessian and I destroyed another ship. The remaining ship engaged his cruise engines. "Let him go," I radioed to the other Hessian, who was still badly wounded. His cruise engines were mangled beyond use.
"I need you to do me a favor, comrade," the other Hessian said over the channel. "Can you take some cargo to Kaiserslautern? Our comrades-in-arms are in short supply of munitions and it is an emergency."
I replied in the affirmative and picked up the 20 cartons of cargo. Taking the nearby Jump Hole to New Berlin, it was a stone's throw to Kaiserslautern, where I delivered the cargo to a grateful shipping manager.
Conclusion - The bounty hunters are getting more and more brazen. Perhaps a show of force near Vogtland would dissuade them, although it is not my place to offer more than suggestions. The Kaiserslautern shipping manager also told me he could use some more munitions, although when I asked him why he needed Side Arms he refused to answer. I'll stay on Kaiserslautern for a day or two, see if I can dig up some info on why the LWB is stockpiling Side Arms.
