Today I spent quite a while escorting GMS|Moon's-Luxury-Yacht, the Gallic Metal Service Barge
Helping to clear traffic through tradelanes and providing protection. I was even paid 5,000,000 unpromted.
I don't think I have to tell any Corsican the importance of GMS. They are money driven and don't hold many loyalties to much else but their profits, I can respect that character strenght. For some reason they don't trust us with their contracts against illegal miners near their Toulon Minining Facility in Provence and hire external mercenaries instead.
Illegal mining remains an issue, and the GMS has retaliated by hiring various unscrupulous mercenary companies to destroy intruders in the field. This move has stirred controversy within the Core Worlds, with some arguing that the company should not be allowed to enforce laws, citing that as the duty of the Gendarmerie. The brutal, merciless tactics employed by these mercenaries has caused a number of the freelancers that frequent the field to violently retaliate against their perceived "oppressors." The Unione Corse, opportunistic as ever and more prevalent in the system than ever before, has consistently lobbied the GMS to secure these juicy security contracts rather than private mercenary companies, to no avail until that point. The Sirian Bounty Hunters Guild is now also considering petitioning the GMS to secure a valuable contract on the sidelines.
And well, we do raid their convoys and kill their people if they stray too far - I don't think any Corsican has been enough of an amateur to let that be found out in the open however.
I will do my part so they stop believing the (well . . . true) rumors about us - it is highly beneficial if they trust us, award us their contracts and relax in our presence - escorting one of their massive vessels is the least I can do.
