If you're absolutely desperate to fly an Argus (no idea why you'd be though), hug solaris BSs if the enemy have one or more Bombers, provide supporting fire for your BSs (BCs can do quite a lot of damage, and an Ossie + Argus can out-DPS a Rheinland BS if done right). BCs are support ships in fleet battles (except the Bullhead which can actively hunt Cruisers and GBs), you generally want to keep in the thick of your fleet, where you are best protected from enemy Bombers.
To factor an Argus into an average fleet (with the ships the SCRA has), you'd want a cerb-solaris Ossie with a good pilot, lots of Bombers and CD Fighters. Bombers and Fighters keep enemy caps in place while the Ossie and Argus snipe them with BS cerbs and artillery, which will generally lead to their caps going down (unless they have loads of Cruisers, in which case your Bombers need to be well coordinated to focus them down), at which point you want to rely on your Ossie's solaris to provide the finishing blow, and if necessary, the Argus to bait the snubs to the Ossie.

I would not put BS pulses- put BS Cerberus there, do the math and you will see that they have more dps the 20 cruiser turrets, they have much more dps then anything that you can use effectively on Argus and they have 3k range.
The sweet thing is that they dont eat too much energy for your core, the rest 2 motars 2 missiles and it is up to the ship role - full cruiser Cerberus or cruser solaris/razors
I dont know about the argus acrs and how many guns can shoot to all direction, the LABC ones are pretty bad, making using 6 solaris ineffective and I use cruiser razors.

Yea, I learned from a fight just now that BS Pulses and regular Primaries suck. Bad. I changed the 2 Pulses to 2 BS Cerbs and the Hessian Prims to Cerbs.:)

Thy battlerazors too, if you have good aim group them 2 at group and 4 in direction - they blast GBs bombers and fighters very effective but as I said I dunno about the gun arcs.

Had a battlecruiser for a short time.Mount weapons with great hull damage.Snipe battleships with double LMs, you would also need someone with CD when fighting cruiser and battleships, so they won't cruise up to you or won't escape. You can crash cruisers in head-to-head battle with superior (3.6 mln) powerplant.Fighting gunboats and below isn't an option...hitting a gunboat with BC is like a dream come true.Quad cruiser pulses should do great when chainfired at battleship's shields. Battlecruisers are typical support ships. You will fail epicly working alone.2 light mortars, 3-4 pulses, 2 bs primaries and rest cruiser prims OR 2 lms, 2 bs prims and full cruiser prims will do nice job for sniping Battlesheeps and tanking cruisers.
' Wrote:I've recently acquired an Argus Battlecruiser and I'm wondering just how I should fly it. I can't kite with it since it only has 90 Thrust, and I can't go toe to toe with anything because it can either fly away (Vs Cruiser or Smaller) or utterly crush me (Battleship).
If you ever find out, let us at IMG know. As it stands, without a thruster, these ships are pointless. Granted, you can chainfire 5 light mortar blasts out of a fully charged powercore using 2 mortar launchers, or pelt gunboats with a dual missile launcher, but a battlecruiser without thruster is just an underpowered battleship.
Come 4.86 the model will change and a thruster will be added. Once they can kite, I imagine they'll be more useful standalone. As it stands I have not been able to find much use for the Argus.
When used in groups however, the Argus can take several roles. With a dual Cerberus battleship gun (the Battlecruiser core can support these at continuous fire) at point it can keep considerable firepower in the forward arc, supporting a battleship to battleship fight by keeping an enemy shield down.
Cruiser primaries have a good speed and distance, very capable of picking on gunboats, and to some degree fighters. However, the turret turning speed is appalling. I have seen people use a large number of cruiser Razors to try and snipe gunboats and fighters instead of using primaries, as well.
But the Argus is a relatively soft target for enemy bombers and capital ships. It's not very mobile, and rather large. You may end up just being the first target and get taken out in a few seconds.
I've not tried alternate strategies much. I've seen people use the battleship slots for flak cannons, dual solaris, a standard mortar, even a battleship missile launcher. Doubt these configurations are effective however.
