In game, forum, and info-cards, AP Manufacturing is a division of the BHG. The freighters that they use are either tagged with IC ID and IFF, or BHG ID and IFF. As far as specific ships are concerned, we have used the tanker (until the cargo restriction got us), and for our in-house runs we use typcial in-house freighters and transports, and the ships that supply Daba and/or cross war zones we fly Shires.
So typically an Armored Transport as a freighter, then up to and including a 3K transport in house, then cap8 Shires for the outer realm supply.
We build combat ships and base stations - effectively consider us as using standardized cargo containers, similar to trucks today.

While it's not something that's needed, I think a freighter styled along the lines of the Manta and such would actually be really neat looking and potentially fun. Mostly importantly, calling it the Narwhal* could actually work and make a lot of sense.
*Note: I think a ship called the Narwhal would be fun because they are neat.
On another server I tried playing a rookie BH that had to fly routes supplying various bases but I got messed up in the tech when the BW Dromedary wouldn't work with a BHG id. Even using civilian weps I was reduced to 10% power. I thought BW ships were allowed for the BHG on the tech chart.

A big yes to the whole Idea, and the naming, oh, I can see it now, Narwhal Narwhal swimming in the *shuts up*
