Unless it is another "tag it no matter the ID" group, one SS- that I saw was a transport supporting the anti-Gallia forces in the Taus, think I saw it end up in Tau-39.
I do realize that some things have been ruined for all time by the Nazi's, which is a shame. (This is not opening up a debate or a can of worms - simply just information - as an example, the swastika was used by both Indians, feather and dot.) However, S.S. - if the two periods are in there - does tend to be a standard science fiction reference to space ship or sleeper ship, in the case of the S.S. Botany Bay. (Think KHAN!)
Something that a LOT of people don't realize is the U.S.S. - as in U.S.S. Enterprise - stood for United Space Ship.

I am german and so I want to add something to this toppic:
Quote:No, it's probably an unofficial faction. And to be honest, I found their tag a bit disturbing since I read it as "Schutzstaffel", which of course shouldn't be tolerated here. Though I don't know for what it really does stand, and maybe it wasn't their intention to provocate a misunderstanding. However, it's still an 'unlucky' choice for a group tag.

Some things are ruined by the Nazis. Others were ruinied by other organizations and groups who are to stupid to invent something on their own.
The swastika can be found on rune stones from about 800 BC. There is a US Navy (I think ... please correct me, if you know what I am meaning and I am wrong) ... building shaped like one while in Germany its forbidden to show or write it in public today. (Don't ask me if violating this law means you have to pay a fee or by repetition it get's worse).
But for this game thinks like SS or S.S. as faction tags are so unlucky chosen, that in my opinion people have to be ask for changeing it. That can be easily done by adding an article. -> SS (meaning Shadow Ships) would become something like tSS (the Shadow Ships) and the 'problem' would be solved.
Anyway someone who have chosen such unlucky but changes his tag by beeing asked needen't to be sunctioned any further. *
Quote:"Schutzstaffel"
Someone define this for the dumb Americans like myself please.
EDIT: Googled, so it's supposed to be a Hitler/Nazi reference?
As you have been an example: some people just don't know. And we are here for playing not for suncationing people on everything they might got wrong.
*Can you imagine anyone named Samuel Schmidt?
Thats as unlucky as possible. But this name combination is possible. And the one named like this is the last one who can be blamed for it!
To the stars!
Pavel prompted:We are the money making company! And Hartmann added later while discussing that with me:The DHC way to solve problems? - Throw mony at it, until it diiieees!
