Fly around cloaked all the time, then single out a lone ship, uncloak right in front of it, blast it into pieces 5 seconds later, then cloak again and fly off... There you have it, that's 100% of nomad RP...
Quote:This kind of closed-mindedness is probably the reason they've been at war with humans for so long without even a cease-fire.
They were infiltrating humans, studying them, studying Sirius using human bodies, minds, and technology, for many years. Perhaps for centuries. In the beginning, Nomads had little knowledge of humans, DKV, Sirius, and even of themselves. In Omicron Alpha, they were living peacefully next to the Outcasts. In Omicron Gamma, they were attacked, but didn't retaliate on a larger scale, either because they couldn't, or because they didn't feel threatened enough. They turned very aggressive when they found out that humans discovered an active DKV artifact, which could potentially have granted them entry to other DKV worlds or destroy them. This time, the nomads wanted to beat the humans to the DKV relics.

They are at war with humans because Sirius is theirs. Now, you wouldn't welcome an intruder, taking over 90% of your own house with the intention to live there and shoot you when they see you, with open arms and a wide smile, would you?
They think it's theirs. One can't really justify possession of sector to any one species living in it. After studying and making use of human assets for a while, they decided they wanted to gain mastery over them.
Quote:Nomads are aggressive by nature, since that's how they were created. Also, they blue up Sol, the extended Intro is considered canon in discovery AFAIK.
Every life form is aggressive to something. Bears are aggressive towards humans, humans are aggressive towards cows, cows are aggressive towards grass, grass aggressively takes up space in your mom's vegetable garden. Aggression and destruction is a tool that life uses all the time. There is no reason for the nomads to feel any more compassion towards humans than you feel compassion for the tree that was used to build your desk.
Quote:Sorry for interruption, but since Nomads began infiltrating humanity, wouldn't they slowly make some research over human's behaviour and conclude some information about them? Even the most brutal and destructive race (which became rather covert with its operations) should make conclusions, if it was almost destroyed up by a way inferior race.
Indeed, they did study humans with great interest. Whether humans are inferior to nomads is debatable. Nomads have built less technology by themselves than humans, their minds are possibly less creative and less evolved. After all, they're just a bunch of virus-like machines. Possibly, they don't even have minds of their own, and needed a human host mind to become self-aware.
Quote:Aren't nomads biological weapons, created by a masturrace, set to destroy? Wasn't that the root of their demise in the SP campaign?
They were created as tools used for genetic engineering. At some point, they became self-aware.
Quote:Yes,that is true i believe.
They also happen to "evolve",since "continual service improvement" was built into their "code".
And they have used humans to make a leap forward in evolution. Like every life form, self-preservation and self-improvement became their driving force.
Awesome replies; arguably most reasonable perspective in the thread..... and banned.
Quote:Especially that your Nomad ID specifically says that you cannot dock anywhere except on Nomad bases and cannot leave the Omicrons.
Well, if I were a nomad trying to do this, I would probably try to integrate somehow, and that could lead me to get another license. There would probably be a long period of time where I flew around with either a recruit or freelancer license.
On the other hand, if a pirate got ahold of a nomad ship somehow, he'd have to first develop a relationship with nomads (in order to get access to the base) and then undergo some sort of RP stuff to facilitate him flying the biological ship. Obviously, still being a pirate, he'd keep his pirate ID.
Of course, that kind of relationship developing is impossible, because the devs have spoken and there are no missions available which develop relations with Nomads. It seems that the popular rule here is that you can't really create any character that pushes the boundaries of his respective culture. That means that outlaws are always lawfuls pretending, lawfuls are always right, and there's no room for an actual minority group (or any mutating subculture for that matter). Don't you guys think this is limiting?

One more time.
Nomads do not fly spaceships.
Nomads ARE spaceships.
Because of "i wanna fly nomad ship...." there was no indie nomads back in time, and it was good!!!

Are ALL Nomads ships, or is it just some of them? Does anyone even know?
If it's all of them, then a) Nomads should *definitely* start with enough money to buy a ship, and b) This doesn't rule out the possibility of someone developing enough relationship with a Nomad to cooperate with it. Plus, since we don't know much about nomad science, and they may as well know a lot about our biology and technology, they could potentially assimilate a pilot -- especially if they're programmed to "evolve" via "continual service improvement".
If it's not all of them, then who's flying the Nomad ship? It's a nomad that's not a ship who's flying it. If that's the case, then it's conceivable that someone could, possibly needing extensive genetic re-engineering, (likely attainable via strong positive relationship), fly a Nomad ship.

First of all, this sentence doesn't make sense; but if I'm interpreting you correctly, you're wrong about lack of individuality being a good thing in any case, even for [especially for] role play. Also, aren't you part of The Order? If so, it makes sense that you would want the Nomads to be impossibly lame.
I'm restarting as a Legionnaire, because I think the leadership here is incompetent and should be replaced.
Nomad vessels belong to the Nomads only.
No interchangeable ID's or anything.
Humans are not allowed to have nomad ships, ooRP or inRP
Nomad stuff belongs to 3 sub types
1: Morph Trial ID: For those that want to try nomads out and their RP
2: Nomad ID: A terror ID allowing players to silent engage anyone in the Omicrons only and not leave the Omicrons (You can get sanctioned if ya do)
and finally K'Hara ID which is only allowed for the primary faction players
Seeing as you got access denied, I'm guessing you tried to by the cruiser or battleship, which only K'Hara can have, and nomad indies can't tractor cargo in either, only the Morph and K'Hara can.
Again however, regardless of the RP, nomad vessels are flown by nomad players only, humans cannot get them in any way, shape or form, even with a maxed out RP attempt, being allies to them and stuff like that.
I say if you really want to try nomad RP anyways, try the K'Hara, sure its hard to get into but their RP is fun!
This is who the Nomads are. This is who the Nomads will be.
If you don't like it, you're more than welcome to play another part back on the human race.
Thanks for the link. I get it, I get it. Nomads have at least 56 pages worth of established lore. All the more reason they should be able to buy their own ships without foreign help. I'll not be a nomad, but thanks all for your replies.

It's not about foreign help. That cash transfer doesn't exist "in-RP", it's there for certain sakes of balance.
Why if you restart as a Navy officer you need to get "foreign help" to buy your navy ship? That doesn't make sense, the navy would fit you with it! (getting where I am going)
@Shizune I don't know if it actually counts as a nomad ship, but the scorpion is definitely SRP-able for humans (though that might be because it falls more into the Wilde spectrum).

Ill paraphrase:
Playing as nomad is not recommended for new players at all!Nomads ships used to be given via admins only.
No,im not order.
