you know what? I have a sincere doubt if you played vanilla[original] freelancer. DSE mined and shipped[and, lorewise, even invented the Hegemon design, correct me if I am wrong]. agiera shipped gate/lane parts . Synth shipped, umm, synth food products. Junkers shipped anything they could find. everybody[samura, daumann, kruger etc] bought and sold with ease.
I want to know, why such a discussion popped up. I dont see any purpose excpet flames/rage from shipping factions.
p.s. no bias, I am a part of RS|, soon to be atleast.
This is the lore edition. But we have players who want to be in DSE and mine and trade. They do not want to be in two different factions to do what they could in one. Because they joined faction for people in the faction, not to use the ID, that they could use as indies ffs.
God damn it. Drop this topic already. THERE WILL BE NO CHANGE, because we do not want to drive away good people from server.
As said. Yes, if it was only about using the benefits of a said faction ID, then it can easily be done by having an Indie character. The Joining of a faction doesn't have to be the main result of a lucrative ID, it can simply be the people, activity or a person's personal view about the faction from Vanilla.

If Mining companies can also Transports goods then what is the purpose left for Shipping companies?
Like example:
DSE mine and haul also
then what is Universal for are they only to take goods for POB's in RP
Well Osama, all i can say is. Considering you were a member of USI, you're knowledge of us is remarkably poor. We do mine

Wow, thats a nice idea out there in implementation. Never had spent my time in liberty so, excuse my ignorance about the Liberty-related issues. But thats a nice one for a shipping company. Sounds great as per the role.

What benefit has shipping company have ? . If mining companies can mine on their own can transport on transport on their own and have access to 5 k transport . Then what is left for shipping to make real profit ?
Tell your suggestions about how to fix it
Right now Mining companies can ship themselves and can also mine themselves . In that case people come less to shipping Companies and go to Mining companies because they do both . RP wise i think Mining company just stick to mining not shipping . Like DSE mine platinum and ship to New london themselves then why USI . Delete shipping factions or try to solve this matter
Waw, angry little thing you are. Did you even read what I posted all over this thread? Mining companies are still having less profits than shipping companies hauling ores. Either way, you get a more profit than the mining companies. So instead of whining about shipping companies doesnt have enough special things that makes members join in, you can try to RP a commodity to your liking, and then proceed to have a monopoly over it, as Ageira has monopoly over Gate/Lane parts.
And so, shipping companies ship. Mining companies ship and as well mine. Deal with it. Since I can never get something sensible into someones mind, if they are reluctant. So if you can, try to make mining companies mine alone, shipping companies ship alone, and pirate groups pirate alone and dont get involved in Smuggling and such. Good luck with your first step in creating a havoc in the Sirius balance.
Also, good point made, USI....mining...enough said. Get your facts right since you are in a member of that faction.
I wasn't necessarily saying that mining companies can't or don't ship their ores at all, but I suppose I would like if they were a bit more limited in their cargo range. IMO, even 4300 limit isn't that much of a loss. Limiting them a bit more would provide more incentive for the miners to SELL the mined ores to shippers instead of just shipping it themselves (unless they really want to).
Thus, the natural push of gameplay would be for the factions to do their intended roles, while still giving them flexability to do more (albeit at a less effective rate)
It already IS this way for shippers in that they have no mining bonuses. I'd like it if the door were swung the opposite direction a bit more, so to speak.
Well well, mining ships have a max of 2.7k cargo. Which is already reduced as you said 4.3k cargo is very high.
The transports for these mining factions have a max of 4.3k cargo.
The transports cant mine, as you said to reduce their cargo size. So, if a mining ship is mining and any transport goes in for a fill, the miner can fill him up regardless of if he is a shipping company 5k or mining company transport.
The thing that has been going for as long as I have been observing is that miners do sell their ores. They just dont care if they are shippers or mining faction transports. And they prefer a shipper (already) since their cargo hold is higher than a mining faction transport.
Which gives shipping companies a advantage over mining faction transports. The real problem is, there are no shipping company, or in fact, there are no transports that mostly look out for a miner these days. That leads to you thinking that mining factions are getting an advantage of some unknown origins over shipping companies.
If a miner mines and sells his ore himself (can you explain that a little more?) all he can mine and haul lies within what the Hegemon can hold in its cargo hold.
A Shishapangma, or a Shire can not mine. So they are in every terms having a less advantage than a Stork or any other 5k. I guess that you are speaking that either of these ships mine and haul ores themselves. They too need miners, like every shipping company does. Just that, these ships are logging in and the shipping comany transports are not logging in as much( speaking in terms of official faction activities, in indy terms, there are more shipping comapny transports than mining faction ones)
