^ This. Wish I'd seen that before we attempted to return our stranded barge from the op that got interupted by the ddos weeks ago. It's all well and good doing these changes, however barge jumping has already been disabled and with no warning.

The intent of this change is to make jump trading impractical in any of its forms although the minimum goal is to make barge jump trading impossible. I'm posting this to give players some warning so that they can consider the impacts and how they might mitigate them.
Well it's not really an advance notice as it's already been implemented, we are having to deal with the impacts right now. I don't have a problem with the proposed changes (I'll write a full post on my thoughts on that later) however I am frustrated that it's already been implemented without warning.
We decided to try to fly our barge back home manually (was quite fun though, although I seem to be baldin prematurely). We managed to move it 2 systems before we hit Cortez and we can't progress, only way to escape is to dock with lanes however with the NPCs that impossible (assuming I could successfully dock it anyways, the barge is longer than the distance from the lane to the jump gate so you can't enter straight!).
Summary: Some actual notice and time to prepare in advance would have been preferable

Without the jump and with the barge's current stats the ship might as well be deleted.
We have done several great things using our barges to help supply many POB's.
Loads of activity and good times have been had being able to jump barges.
Making the barge only allowed to dock on a player base seems to address the issue and curbs the barge jump trading.
This is an excellent idea. Why is this not an option? If barge-jump-trading is such a huge issue is it not also possible to remove all barges and make them SRP again so that they are not abused for the purpose of power trading? It would seem the barges only legitimate use in-game is to supply a PoB anyway.
Didnt people trade in barges even before jump trading existed? And yes AFTER the movement nerf too. i think the people saying they are useless are forgetting that.

I see some consistency in the idiocy towards balancing and using the said gear, congratulations.
or...
1. drop the cost of producing the devices in half
2. Just disable the cd tracking on cloaks, make 40% chance to lose the cloak if the ships dies, balance the types making type for each class so no more underpowered fighter and gb cloak and overpowered transp cloak.
3. Add slot based torpedo that do what your new idiocy thing do- energy based on proper cooldown so it cannot be spammed and one should sacrifice torp slot in order to use it or ammo based with similar price to the cloaking ammo price , make it as cloaks in different classes, 40% chance to loose it by death, also base produced.
4. Use the conn plug-in for jumping drives so no more cargo trading and also add more type of devices for each class with 40% chance to loose the device on death. Add ammo to the said jump drive device that cost different and depletes in different rates depending on the type- buyable from all bases- no more Mox advantage for certain factions only.
5. Repeat 3. just but made to disrupt jumping sequence.
At the end you would get the magic- useful stuff for everybody- Cap users, fight users cloak users anti cloak users, crafters traders etc that is blockable as well and purpose to supply and create bases instead blocking spots and mining. Simple logic.... so much lacking in the dev and balance team... same story with base besieging balance.. then you wonder why the server have 80 people in...

what you write is ok - how you write it is childish - so insulting that it causes a defensive mechanism not to listen to you - even if you say something reasonable. - thats a hint for when you want stuff changed
to further give you an incentive not to be insulting or rude - ... you are dealing with humans, - when you are rude to humans, it causes an emotional reaction. - which in terms of an internet society - can much easier reflect on your peergroup than in real life ( cause there is less about a person on the internet than face to face in real life ) - so by being rude - you don t only hurt your own arguments ... but also those you are associated with. - so don t do it.
what you say is being read - and your chances are MUCH greater when its not spilled on the forum in anger or in such a form - but in a civilized manner.
just write the way you would talk to your "might-be-future-employer" at an audition for a job you REALLY want to get.
also - much of what you wrote has already been discussed - cause its not exactly new - and the devs have read it some time ago.
