If you need even more confirmation that 'freely' means no RP required, then you can skip back a few pages, the thread where an admin clarified that it means such was linked somewhere here.
I like how people are saying it has never caused problems before. Np guys close your eyes, look the other way and keep beating that into your head.
Nomads shouldn't be a playable faction, much less one with the ability to insta people. A joke is all it is, and a joke it shall stay. Getting tired of seeing this thread pop up on the homepage.
If they really have been causing so many detrimental problems, how come it's taken this long for one person to raise a thread (where the topic isn't even about the ID being broken, but about if they're allowed to do that or not) for people to crawl out and start saying that the ID is horribly broken?
I play in the Omicrons all the time. I've never encountered a problem with indie Nomads. They just add to the atmosphere for me.
Some players like to walk on the wire ..... just between breaking and not breaking the rules
Using every possible new feature and keep using it even if it was allowed under certain conditions
So, if I hear this right, the argument for keeping the "must RP" exception for Noms in the 'Crons is as follows; It's been around for a long time, and hasn't bothered hardly anyone until now, so you should just live with it.
First; if that's the case then why bother changing any rules at all, or hell, even ship designs, POBs, cloaks? (ad nauseum)
Second; why is that argument a fair replacement for the community being able to debate the merits of the exception itself? Is the exception inviolate?
Third; aside from the numerous other chinks in the rules armor that can be abused for griefing (like multiple official factions per ID, as just one example) why would it be wise to add more?
*Players don't leave because they're so restricted in their play style, for the most part, most leave for the opposite reason - no protections and too-slow reaction from staff from griefers.
I'd say let the debate on this exception continue, and please stop trying to shut it down based on purely it's existence.
Thanks

Then don't get involved if you have nothing useful to add to discussion.
lol. I'll get involved as much as I like. If anything you have encouraged me to post some more, so I think I will.
Hmm. I think I'll expand on what I think when people say it hasn't caused problems before.
I could put up endless skype conversations of people I know being disgusted with K'hara hunting them down or feeding regens while cloaked to people they shouldn't be affiliated with. If I had logs of ye olde group chats, I'm sure I could fill half this page with people being displeased with Nomads in general. I'm sure I could fine many links to people not liking it on the forums too, but I don't care to. Everyone has seen them pop up in the past. I used to have screens of K'hara breaking server and ID rules, but I was told to not use them and that it was all already sorted.
Hey, remember the 27th? I had the most fun in this game when that tag was around. But we gave up on playing CR because the official faction disliked us for no apparent reason and logging on meant being hunted down by K'hara, as well as their friends in the Wilde factions and Reavers, as well as the Bretonian Privateers, which makes no sense but there you go. These being the same people that would log in to their GRN| alts if we dared to go anywhere near Magellan, or would undock their Valours from Brigand bases smaller than their ship, which would also just happen to be our sellpoint, if we had the atrocious idea of trading in Gallia.
Maybe that is some insight for people as to why I am disgusted the Nomads are even a playable faction, and why I think they should just be purged from the game (along with some people I shan't mention) like they were meant to have been at the end of the vanilla campaign, imo.

"I have evidence why this is bad but I can't be bothered to show it to you or anyone else. Just trust me. No really, I have evidence, I just can't show it."
If you have seen rule violations, file a sanction report and/or talk to the faction leader(s). If you've seen bad attitude, talk to the faction leader(s).
Additionally, what you mentioned has nothing to do with engaging without RP. Even if that happened, it wouldn't be a rule violation, since ID rules overwrite server rules. When you see a rule violation and don't report it, you shouldn't wonder if no steps are taken against it, as the leaders/admins are most likely not aware of it.

The Nomads weren't purged forever. Juni says "They're gone, but they're not beaten" in the hypergate cinematic. This basically says that their return is certain. And the current nomad lore picks up on exactly that.
