no credit sink, no activity boost
Pretty simple, upon suiciding, you lose all your guns and projectiles. I doubt anyone is using it that often, and it could work as a credit sink, and would make sense to make the explosion dmg big ( all the weapons, projectiles and such exploding )

You need to set a ckey for it, cause by default it is not set.

The advantage of your proposal is that it would take less coding, and the disadvantages are that it doesn't really create that much of a credit sink, doesn't really create that much shared activity and is geared towards a more individual approach - one player having the ability to decide to make expensive ship go boom. This would mean that it would get tiresome, and fast (imho), as the penalty for pulling the plug is very light - a few million in guns. Perhaps this could be used as an option on smaller ships: less damage, less effect but less penalty.
the advantages of a pre-made bomb is the activity generated before hand (the player/faction needs to gather money to buy resources to build the module, then transport the resources to a POB, then gather the money to buy the resources to build the olivia*, then transporting the resources for the olivia, then gathering money to buy the ship, the Cap8, and then they have the ability to go Yalalalalalalaclickboom), something that would involve a large amount of people dedicated to one project, all of whom would know that they were building the supergun to take out that base/fleet/whatever.
besides which, the cost of this is gonna be almost prohibitive methinks
Would you like to be on the receiving end of a cool "brander" attack?
When someone simply rams into you and you die?
Then he presses respawn and everything is fine again, and you are out of the fight, looking at the "you are dead" screen.
No.
Such things work in single player.
Not in multiplayer.
