Masked one (from the poster?) Was Kylo Ren - idk why you called him Snape. He was wearing standard Sith Robes with Sith mask - definitely a fan of the old ways. A lot of fans pointed out references towards the almighty and only Darth Revan style. But during the old republic era - most sith lords and their apprentices were wearing such simply robes with masks.
When unmasked he was looking more like Anakin (due to his hair) when fighting Kenobi in IIIrd movie.

I like how they mixed old and new stuff together without being to extreme in any aspect.
The actors are good and there is a good story. There are also quite some Easter eggs for
those who have seen the other movies, read some of the books / comics, or have seen
the clone wars and other series.
But... They also messed up quite a lot... Lightsaber duels feel heavy and slow. Most lightsabers
are light and allow quick and intense combat. In the movie they act like they are swinging a Axe
and its a pain to watch them get hit by those slow dodgeable strikes. Also Disney seems to have
made this movie in to more of a "kids movie". There are small jokes in every thing they do which
seems to be a desperate attempt to get the kids to laugh. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed some of them...
But so many of them... You just can't take the movie "serious" and it feels just wrong.
I would have also like if they would have stick to the original Star Wars lore and the books.
Would have been cool.

Well, you forgot the fact that from the 3 characters to carry lightsaber in this move, only 1 of them had a slight idea how to move it accordingly and it was Kylo Ren. Finn had no idea at all how to fight with it and due to its light weight he was easily knocked off and had his saber thrown away. Rey on the other hand participated bad from the start and after she let the force guide her - the force did compensate for her lack of skill. Key moment was that awakening and its the reason why the movie carry this name. The force awakens - within Rey, turning her from simple force sensitive human in to a potential, strong in the light side - future padawan learner.
In the movie it was very distinctive to see how these 3 characters carry the legendary weapon and how each one of them represented a kind of style:
- Finn was the "amateur", simple human who was given a lightsaber, trying to use it as an old sword/axe.
- Rey was the "learner", who let the force to guide her hands and overall predict Kylo's moves, so her style was more close to those young lings from clone wars or simple padawans - no combat style but guided by the forces.
- Kylo was the "master", but not a master close to anyone we've seen. He simply had an obvious combat style, sadly - too rusty due to the lack of fighting against jedi and definitely out of performance. Still, he did well but he did not had the support of NEITHER the light nor the dark side for he was inbetween them, confused (which was part of the plot of his development). The reason why he survived was due to that crack in the land...not that Rey would've kill him but if they kept going - Rey would definitely score a killing blow.
You made a point but your accusation sounds like you did not paid attention to why these characters performed so "bad".
PS: Using lightsaber means to have both fighting style (wont type their names) and use the force or the dark side. Once you have either duo of these implemented in yourself while using it - then you can do such quick strikes and deflections. Otherwise - you would perform just like Finn. Its great the movie had such moments. I've noticed them and was happy to see something new. Yes this was not an epic battle like Anakin vs Kenobi nor Yoda vs Dooku but it's new and was fun.
Quote:New Republic, its 4 new planets were "utterly destroyed"...their newly formed "government planet" equal to Corsuscant is gone. Currently the galaxy far far away is governless and in chaos.
Well, the EU New Republic didn't fell or became governless, when Vongs captured Coruscant and killed its current head of state. I don't see why EVII New Republic should vanish under almost same circumstances.
Quote:Tbh the best way to guess what is coming is to re-reading Jacen story arc as well as Luke one - cuz I am sure they will definitely at least read it once and might be inspired by something.
Actually it's not. Jacen's different from Kylo/Ben, cause he's still Great Powerful Dark Lord of the Sith, Second in Power only to Skywalker himself, who's actually capable on forging his own path. Similarities between them end on parents and lightsaber color. And writing same story for 2 different characters is bad idea.

Then your only hope is Snoke. Cause rest of First Order look weak aswell. Epic Captain Phasma turns traitor after 30 seconds of mental interrogation. General "Heil First Order" Hux was first to evacuate from Starkiller, apparently cause his mother forbid him to die on icy planets.
Quote:And of course the not so crazy rumors are that Hayden will be simply part of a flashback memory/vision of great importance.
That. I can easily imagine Anakin telling Ben not to make his mistakes(meaning hurtin Padme, Dark Side and so on). And Ben telling him that he won't(meaning he won't become sentimental and kill Snoke).
Hmm, have you noticed that when Kylo interrogated Rey with the force he said: "You Imagine an ocean. I see it. I see the island." That makes me to think of 3 theories, considering the end of the movie where Luke was on an "ocean planet" with "islands":
1) When Rey was a child, barely able to remember much of the surroundings, she got a glimpse of the two most noticeable things - the ocean all around her and the Island. Maybe she was born at this planet raised for some years until Luke decided to hide her, so Snoke to not be able to sense her presence and give away Luke's position. Luke as the only real and left alive jedi should be strong enough to cover his presence, similar to what Sidious did all these years but a child, force sensitive one, might not be able to understand what to do nor how to do it and could potentially expose them. Also, possibly Rey was seen as a child by Kylo and that is why he was so shocked at the beginning when've been told that a certain "girl" got the droid and left the planet. Maybe he knew that Luke had a daughter and was heading his way. Kylo in the movie is 29 years old, while Rey is 21 (Movie is 30 years after battle of Endor where, Kylo was born 1 year after it, while Rey - 8 years after the battle(info from wookipedia)). So, when Rey was 3 years old (from the vision), Kylo was already 11.
2) Rey was in the new academy where Luke trained his new padawans - Kylo yet again saw her and new Luke had a daughter. After the purge he was probably searching for her but Luke - afraid to lose his only child - sent her away, similar to how they've done to him back then, sending him to Tatooine. From the vision the "hand" that grasped the young Rey and the voice, were the same as the alien that gave her rations to eat...maybe he was a trusted someone to keep an eye on her, similar to how Anakin was with Watto (another junk trading master). Either way, Rey might have seen the planet which had ocean and island where the temple was located BUT - that planet would not be the same one from the end of the movie but similar to it cuz otherwise Kylo would know where it is.
3) And final theory of mine is that Rey simply had some connection to Luke via the force, who was observing her in a new way (telepathically), so he shown her the planet he was located - the beautiful ocean and the island. Maybe that was her dream where she really would like to be and this vision gave her strength to continue to live until the day comes when her parents will take her back to this place where she would like to spend with them.
(At the end of the movie, if Rey really was strong in the light side - if she asks the right question the force will respond accordingly - so if she was asking herself "Is Luke my father" the force would give her visions of that to be true, similar to how Luke thought about his sister, without knowing her and was like "who might that be?" - second later he said "Leia, she is my sister" and Kenobi nodes that to be true. Would be epic if movie ended with "Father?" instead of silence but JJ is know to make mysteries and if that was necessary one - so be it.)
What do you think about it? Which island and ocean was Rey dreaming when being "young"?
Rey couldn't seen Luke's hiding on her own. Mainly because relatives left her on Jakku, when she was young and she couldn't remember a thing. I can't imagine that Ben corrupted before he got 16, Rey would be 8 years old by that time, more than enough to fully remember things, including face of her father and planet she was raised at.
I think, that in the moment Rey touched original Skywalker's lightsaber, she got "connected" not only to the Force, but to Skywalker himself, catching a vision of a place he hides.
Well, the thing is the whole interrogation was referring towards Rey's whole life. She was lonely and couldn't sleep so she thought of this island and ocean - not that she dream about them after she touched the lightsaber (there was not a moment she could sleep and think of that...cuz she was caught minutes after she touched the sword in first place...how can she dream about stuff when she even couldn't be recorded to sleep? )
Yes, there was a connection between her and Luke after that vision - revealed to her by the force - but that is still not explaining these memories/dreams she had before the whole adventure - when she was young. That is why I assume she got them by Luke instead the opposite.
As for their years, its really complicated to speculate when Kylo turned to the dark side (obviously he was not so young and from the vision Kylo was around 20+, with already build mask and saber with red crystal). Best bet is that by the time this purge happened, Rey was already at Jakku because Luke possibly had a vision of how things might turn or simply fears after sensing the confused mixed feelings of his nephew and simply prepared an early move.
